  • Publication number: 20230190557
Abstract: An overhead lift apparatus includes a mounting structure and a rotatable assembly configured to attach a lift unit to the mounting structure. The rotatable assembly is rotatable with respect to the mounting structure about an axis of rotation. The apparatus also includes a rotatable electrical interface disposed in the rotatable assembly, the rotatable electrical interface comprises a static portion and a rotatable portion attached to the rotatable assembly such that the rotatable portion rotates in conjunction with the rotatable assembly. The apparatus also includes a first electrical connector extending from the static portion to a power source connector configured to be connected to an external power source for the lift unit. A second electrical connector extends from the rotatable portion such that the rotatable electrical interface is configured to provide power from the power source to an end of the second electrical connector via the first electrical connector.

  • Patent number: 11672716
Abstract: An overhead lift system may include a motor and a lift strap connected to the motor. The motor raises and lowers the lift strap. A hand controller may be communicatively connected to the motor. The hand controller includes a force sensor associated with the body of the hand controller such that force applied to the body is detected with the force sensor. An orientation sensor may also be arranged within the body and determines an orientation of the hand controller. A control unit may be communicatively connected with the motor, the force sensor, and the orientation sensor. The control unit detects a force applied to the hand controller with the force sensor, determines a direction of motion of the hand controller with the orientation sensor, and provides a signal to the motor to raise or lower the lift strap based on the force and orientation of the hand controller.

  • Publication number: 20230174574
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a protein purification system and methods of making such a system. Specifically, the invention relates to a method of immobilizing an N-terminal intein segment to a solid support, the method comprising: exposing an N-terminal intein segment to a cognate folding partner under conditions that promote association between the N-terminal intein and the cognate folding partner; immobilizing the N-terminal intein to a solid support; subjecting the N-terminal intein to conditions that disrupt association between the N-terminal intein and the cognate folding partner; and washing the solid support to remove non-bound material, thereby immobilizing an N-terminal intein segment to a solid support.

  • Patent number: 11542128
Abstract: A lift system includes a trolley member defining an aperture extending through the trolley member, a locking unit coupled to the trolley member, the locking unit including a locking unit body and a pin that extends outward from the locking unit body, where the pin is repositionable between an engaged position, in which the pin extends through and outward from the aperture of the trolley member, and a disengaged position, a cable extending between and terminating at an actuator end that is engaged with the actuator and a subject lift end positioned opposite the actuator end, where the cable is selectively drawn to the trolley member or paid out from the trolley member upon actuation of the actuator, and a subject lift connecting member coupled the subject lift end of the cable.

  • Patent number: 11344462
Abstract: A person lifting apparatus includes a first lifting strap feeding device including a first drum and a first lifting strap wound on the first drum. A second lifting strap feeding device includes a second drum and a second lifting strap wound on the second drum. A controller is communicatively coupled to the first lifting strap feeding device and to the second lifting strap feeding device. The controller includes logic that controls operation of the first lifting strap feeding device and the second lifting strap feeding device based on a comparison of current draws of the first lifting strap feeding device and the second lifting strap feeding device.

  • Publication number: 20200168308
Abstract: Rail-mounted lift systems, systems comprising the same, and kits of parts for retrofitting rail-mounted lift systems are disclosed. A lift system includes a rail having a carriage support channel formed therein, a carriage slidably disposed in the carriage support channel for relative movement to the rail, a lift unit coupled to the carriage, the lift unit having a motor that extends and retracts a lifting strap, and a locating system having a first component and a second component separate from the first component. One of the first and second components is a transmitter providing a code that corresponds to a predetermined location and the other is a receiver detecting the code when the first and second components are moved in proximity to one another due to movement of the carriage along the rail.
