  • Patent number: 12269123
Abstract: Systems and methods for laser-based processing of semiconductor wafers are provided. In one example, a method includes providing emission of a laser from a laser source towards an edge portion of a wide bandgap semiconductor workpiece from a direction facing a side surface of the wide bandgap semiconductor workpiece, the side surface extending between a first major surface of the wide bandgap semiconductor workpiece and an opposing second major surface of the wide bandgap semiconductor workpiece. The method includes ablating the edge portion of the wide bandgap semiconductor workpiece with the laser to remove material from the edge portion of the wide bandgap semiconductor workpiece.

  • Patent number: 12059732
Abstract: Machine chuck jaws, and a related method of manufacture, are provided. The machine chuck jaws are formed from an additive manufacturing process and include one or more gripping pads per chuck jaw. An axial stop is also formed from an additive manufacturing process and provides a flat surface for workpiece placement. The gripping pads equally distribute the clamping pressure, and the additive manufacturing process provides unique shaping capabilities and a honeycomb internal cross-section, thereby achieving a lightweight design. The reduction in weight allows for a decrease in pneumatic pressure used to actuate the jaws, resulting in a corresponding reduction in the clamping pressure which helps improve the form of the workpiece being machined.

  • Publication number: 20230406365
Abstract: Systems and methods for actuating automatic sliding doors on railroad hopper cars are disclosed. The system includes a cylinder having a first cap end mounted on a hopper car, and a second rod end having a clevis. The cylinder has a piston rod which extends, causing an actuating reinforcer coupled to the clevis to rotate around a coupled main shaft. The rotational motion of the actuating reinforcer causes an operating lever, also coupled to the main shaft, to rotate. A connecting link translates the rotational motion of the operating lever to a door pan fulcrum mounted to a sliding door, causing the door pan fulcrum to pull the sliding door open. The system also enables automatic locking in an analogous way, with the door pan fulcrum pushed to close the sliding door, when the cylinder piston rod returns to its original position.
