  • Patent number: 9169148
Abstract: The invention relates to a combustion method for glass melting, in which a flame is created both by a liquid fuel pulse and a single gaseous fuel pulse, characterized in that the fraction of the total power due to the liquid fuel varies between 20 and 80%, and in that the specific gaseous fuel pulse is limited to a value that is sufficiency low so that the NOx content of the flue gases produced does not exceed 800 mg/Sm3 for a cross-fired furnace and 600 mg/Sm3 for an end-fired furnace; an injector for implementing this method; a burner comprising one or more such injectors; a furnace comprising at least one such burner.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 6, 2008
Date of Patent: October 27, 2015
Assignees: SAINT-GOBAIN EMBALLAGE, SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS FRANCE
Inventors: Patrice Rouchy, Laurent Garnier, Joseph Vernaz, Carlos Mazzotti De Oliveira
  • Publication number: 20110061642
Abstract: The invention relates to: a combustion process, especially for melting glass, in which a flame is created by gaseous fuel, characterized in that several regularly spaced peripheral low-pressure gas jets converge on a central high-pressure gas jet; an injector for implementing this process; a burner comprising one or more such injectors; and a furnace comprising at least one such burner.

  • Publication number: 20100112498
Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid fuel spray injector comprising a liquid fuel intake duct and a spray fluid intake duct, said liquid fuel intake duct comprising an element perforated with oblique channels for shaping said fuel into a hollow rotating jet before ejection from said injector, characterized in that the generatrix of each of said channels makes an angle of less than 10° with the liquid fuel intake direction. The injector is intended to form part of a burner, in particular for glass furnaces. The injector serves to obtain a significant reduction of NOx.

  • Patent number: 6551095
Abstract: In a combustion process, especially one used for melting glass, the delivery of fuel is ensured by an apparatus having at least one burner (5) which is equipped with at least one injector (1) that includes a liquid fuel delivery tube (2) which has at least one internal wall (25) and an injected fluid delivery tube (3) arranged concentrically with respect to the liquid fuel delivery tube. Immediately before injecting the liquid fuel from its delivery tube, one puts it in the shape of a hollow jet basically assuming the shape of the internal wall. This has application for the reduction of NOx in a glass-making oven.
