  • Patent number: 11947577
Abstract: Systems and methods for providing auto-completion options to input characters are presented. In response to receiving input characters, a plurality of items of content (that are non-textual items of content) of a corpus of content are identified. These items of content are clustered into n clusters of content according to similarities among the items of content. From the items of content of each cluster, a descriptive title is determined for the cluster. This descriptive title is an auto-completion option for the cluster. The descriptive titles/auto-completion options are provided in response to receiving the input characters.

  • Patent number: 6346865
Abstract: An EMI filter (10) that makes use of a ferroelectric-ferromagnetic composite, member, or slab (12) in connection with capacitive and inductive elements. The geometrical structure of the filter (10) is such that the mutually orthogonal electric fields and magnetic fields generated by the capacitive and inductive elements penetrate the volume of the composite (12). In some designs, capacitive plates (14, 18, 32, 34) are split to avoid setting up eddy currents in the plates (14, 18, 32, 34) which oppose the penetration of magnetic flux through the composite (12). Various structural designs can be provided to define the capacitive elements and the inductive elements in different configurations relative to the composite to satisfy the desirable requirements.

  • Patent number: 6339221
Abstract: A ferroelectric/pyroelectric sensor that employs a technique for determining a charge output of a pyroelectric element of the sensor by measuring the hysteresis loop output of the element several times during a particular time frame for the same temperature. An external AC signal is applied to the pyroelectric element to cause the hysteresis loop output from the element to switch polarization. Charge integration circuitry, such as a combination capacitor and operational amplifier, is employed to measure the charge from the element. A mechanical shutter is not used, and thus the charge integration output from the element is directly proportional to the incident radiation thereof.

  • Patent number: 6294784
Abstract: A ferroelectric/pyroelectric sensor that employs a technique for determining a charge output of a pyroelectric element of the sensor by measuring the hysteresis loop output of the element several times during a particular time frame for the same temperature. An external AC signal is applied to the pyroelectric element to cause the hysteresis loop output from the element to switch polarization. The frequency of the external AC signal is greater than the frequency of a chopper selectively applying a reference temperature and a scene temperature alternately to the pyroelectric element. Each time the chopper provides the reference temperature or the scene temperature to the element, the alternating external source covers multiple cycles so that the hysteresis loop output is switched multiple times for increased signal averaging.

  • Patent number: 5885666
Abstract: This invention includes the discovery that poorly crystallized hexagonal-like films of boron nitride with sp.sup.2 bonding can be converted by ion implantation to amorphous, cubic-like, boron nitride with sp.sup.3 bonding. Preferably the sp.sup.2 bonded film has a considerable amount of residual stress. The discovery that sp.sup.2 bonded BN can be converted to sp.sup.3 bonded BN may prove to be a significant advancement in coating technology for the electronics, machine tool, biomedical, and automotive industries. This discovery is important in that growth processes compatible with high volume production can be used to grow sp.sup.2 bonded BN (e.g., sputtering, e-beam evaporation, and CVD), then implantation procedures can be used to subsequently change the film to sp.sup.3 bonding. The amorphous, cubic-like, BN films can be grown on silicon wafers. This technique is also well-suited for metallic and plastic substrates because both the deposition and implantation processes occur at low temperatures.

  • Patent number: 5856770
Abstract: A material which possesses both capacitive and inductive properties for suppressing electromagnetic interference is provided, wherein the material is a composite of a ferroelectric material and a ferromagnetic material. The ferroelectric-ferromagnetic composite material is formulated and processed so as to retain the distinct electrical properties of the individual constituents according to the relative quantities of the constituents present in the ferroelectric-ferromagnetic composite material. As a unitary composite element, the ferroelectric-ferromagnetic composite is readily formable to provide a compact electrical filter whose filtering capability is highly suitable for suppressing electromagnetic interference from sources internal and external to an automotive environment. The sintered composite has a very low porosity; interconnectivity between the ferroelectric and ferromagnetic phases; and has no chemical reaction between the ferroelectric and ferromagnetic phases to produce a third phase.

  • Patent number: 3936255
Abstract: The present invention pertains to an automatic and continuous dough processing apparatus for embossing designs into wads of dough formed in predetermined masses. The apparatus includes an endless belt for receiving the dough masses and transporting them toward a rotary embossing wheel for imparting designs to the dough masses. The processing apparatus further includes a rotary brush which has its periphery simultaneously in contact with the embossing wheel and the upper surface of the dough masses. The brush is adapted to clean the embossing wheel and coat the dough surface with liquid supplied from a reservoir positioned thereabove. The apparatus also includes a mobile frame for housing all of the above-mentioned members and an electrical power drive member which is operatively coupled to the endless belt, the embossing wheel and the rotary brush.
