Publication number: 20240108356Abstract: An applicator of a clip system includes an elongated member and a bushing coupled to a distal end of the elongated member and a coupling movably attached to the bushing. A capsule is coupled to the coupling via a coupling member hooked over a hook of the coupling. Proximal ends of clip arms are received within the capsule and a core member received between and connected to the proximal ends of the arms includes a projection and a failure point distal of the projection. The core member is coupled to a control member so that movement of the control member relative to the elongated member opens and closes the arms. The projection is configured so that, when the clip is clipped over tissue, the coupling is drawn into the body and the projection drives the coupling member radially outward off the hook to free the capsule.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 13, 2023Publication date: April 4, 2024Inventors: Jimena CESPEDES BERROCAL, Edgardo Andres VELÁZQUEZ-RAMÍREZ, Joseph W. KING, Alex ROBERTS, Juan Pablo ORTIZ GARCIA

Patent number: 11896229Abstract: A tissue-manipulating system including a tissue-manipulating device having shaft and a tissue grasper assembly. The tissue grasper assembly has at least one grasper arm resiliently expandable from a closed configuration, within and extending along the longitudinal axis of a shaft, to an open configuration outside the shaft with the grasper arm expanded in a direction transverse to the longitudinal axis of the shaft. In the open configuration, the at least one grasper arm may be engaged with tissue wall to manipulate or move the tissue wall, such as to move a distal tissue wall closer to a proximal tissue wall. The tissue grasper assembly may be deployable (such as by being separated from the shaft), such as to remain in place holding two tissue walls in apposition.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2021Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Andrew Pic, Joseph W. Publication number: 20230301662Abstract: A device for treating tissue includes a clip including clip arms and a coupler. Each of the clip arms extends from a proximal end to a distal end. Proximal ends of the clip arms are slidably received within a channel of a capsule. A proximal end of the capsule includes openings extending through a wall. The coupler is mounted over the proximal end of the capsule via deployment arms including engaging features extending laterally inward from an interior surface thereof to engage the openings of the capsule. The coupler includes retention arms configured to engage a corresponding portion of an applicator. When a pre-determined compressive force is applied to the coupler, the deployment arms are proximally slidable along the corresponding portion of the applicator to deflect the deployment arms out of engagement with the capsule so that the coupler is separable from the capsule.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2023Publication date: September 28, 2023Inventors: Joseph RAUSA, Collin MURRAY, Joseph W. Publication number: 20230248370Abstract: A clipping system includes a clip, a core member and a control member. The clip includes a capsule extending longitudinally from a proximal end to a distal end and including a channel extending therethrough, and clip arms. Proximal ends of the arms are slidably received within the channel to move the arms between open and closed configurations. The core member is received between and connected to the proximal ends of the arms to couple the arms to one another. The core member includes a locking feature movable between unlocked and locked configurations. The control member extends through a proximal portion of the system from a proximal end to an enlarged distal end housed within a proximal portion of the core member so that a longitudinal movement of the control member relative to the capsule moves the clip between the open and closed configurations.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2023Publication date: August 10, 2023Inventors: Juan Pablo ORTIZ GARCIA, Joseph W. KING, Matthew Robert JAGELSKI, Jimena CESPEDES BERROCAL, Christian ARAYA CAMACHO, Gonzalo Jose SAENZ VILLALOBOS, Robb Morse GAVALIS

Patent number: 11678889Abstract: A system for treating tissue includes an applicator having a bushing and a control member and a clip assembly having a capsule with a channel extending therethrough. The channel includes proximal and distal portions. The distal portion extends distally from the proximal portion and flaring outward in a single plane to form opposing flared sections. The assembly also includes clip aims include proximal ends slidably received within the channel to move the arms between tissue receiving and tissue clipping configurations. The assembly further includes a yoke including a distal portion connected to the arms and a proximal portion configured to be connected to the control member so that longitudinal movement of the control member relative to the capsule moves the arms between the tissue receiving and clipping configurations. The yoke is positioned in the capsule so that the yoke is deformable in the plane in which the capsule flares outward.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2020Date of Patent: June 20, 2023Assignee: BOSTON SCIENTIFIC SCIMED, INC.Inventors: Joseph W.
