Abstract: Methods and systems for facilitating distribution of content are disclosed. In one example embodiment, a method of facilitating demand-driven population and management of online content within a video-on-demand (VOD) service includes receiving trend information and a link reference at one or more input ports, the reference being at least indirectly indicative of a location at which the content is available, and obtaining and normalizing, by way of one or more processing devices, metadata pertaining to the content. The method further includes determining business rule information pertaining to the content based at least indirectly upon the trend information, content provider policy information, and the normalized metadata, via the processing device(s), and outputting via one or more output ports the business rule information for receipt by the VOD service, whereby availability and prioritization of the content at the VOD service is based at least in part upon the output business rule information.

Abstract: Access rights to content items, such as personal photos etc, is determined in response to content metadata and requester metadata. A plurality of content items is stored in a content item store. An access right processor determines content metadata for the plurality of content items. When a request for a content item is determined, the access right processor determines requester metadata for the request. The requester metadata comprises data of a characteristic of a requester of the request. The access right processor then determines access rights in response to the content metadata and the requester metadata. If a positive access right is determined, the requested content item may be sent to the requester. The access right may further be determined in response to past usage data or context data for the content items. The invention may allow an improved and automated access right management.

Abstract: A privately addressed home network bridge is provided for each of two privately addressed home networks. These bridges couple to corresponding gateways for each of the networks. A network tunnel connection is established between the two bridges via the gateways and an intervening publicly addressed network. At least one, and preferably both, of the home network bridges then serve as a proxy/router to facilitate an exchange of messages as between network devices of the two privately addressed home networks. Pursuant to a preferred approach the home network bridges use a mapping technique to correlate private addresses as used in the two privately addressed networks.

Abstract: A Universal Plug and Play relationship is established between platforms that comprise parts of separate local networks. A link is provided via that Universal Plug and Play relationship to then facilitate Universal Plug and Play-compatible communications as between elements that do not, in fact, share a common local network.

Abstract: A method (200) for context information management in a communication device includes a first step (202) of providing contextual information in the communication device that can be downloaded by a content provider. A next step (208) includes assigning access limitations to the contextual information. A next step (218) includes filtering a request for contextual information from a content provider with the access limitations from the previous step to identify contextual information that is permissible to be downloaded. A next step (220) includes sending the identified permissible contextual information to the content provider.
