  • Patent number: 11969901
Abstract: A building monitoring system includes a first sensor configured to detect a first condition in the space, a second sensor configured to detect a second condition in the space, and a robotic sentinel. The robotic sentinel includes a memory for storing one or more rules each configured to identify an alert condition for the space based on the first and/or second conditions in the space, a communications module configured to communicate with a remote device over a network, and a controller operatively coupled to the sensors, the memory, and the communications module. The controller is configured to apply the one or more rules to the first and second detected conditions in the space to identify one or more alert conditions and determine what action is required by the robotic sentinel, and if action is required, command the robotic sentinel to travel to a location of the alert condition.

  • Patent number: 11956447
Abstract: An apparatus for encoding an image block includes a processor that presents, to a machine-learning model, the image block, obtains the partition decision for encoding the image block from the model, and encodes the image block using the partition decision. The model is trained to output a partition decision for encoding the image block by using training data for a plurality of training blocks as input, the training data including for a training block, partition decisions for encoding the training block, and, for each partition decision, a rate-distortion value resulting from encoding the training block using the partition decision. The model is trained using a loss function combining a partition loss function based upon a relationship between the partition decisions and respective predicted partitions, and a rate-distortion cost loss function based upon a relationship between the rate-distortion values and respective predicted rate-distortion values.

  • Patent number: 11914853
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for configuring automatic playback settings on a media playback device. A graphical user interface displays automatic playback settings and receives selections of customized settings for automatic playback. The settings can include context granularity for automatic playback, limiting autoplay to when the media playback device is connected to a wireless network, and activating an audible notification when automatic playback of media content is beginning. An initial queue of media content is selected for playback on the media playback device. The system ascertains whether autoplay is enabled for a particular situation. If autoplay is enabled, the system automatically generates a queue of media that is related to the initial queue and initiates playback on the media playback device after the initial queue concludes.

  • Patent number: 11178409
Abstract: A method for coding a frame of a video stream includes selecting a first initial probability distribution for coding at least a first portion of the frame; updating, to obtain an updated first initial probability distribution and using backward adaptivity, the first initial probability distribution while coding the first portion of the frame; mapping the updated first initial probability distribution to a second initial probability distribution; and coding a second portion of the frame using the second initial probability distribution as an initial probability distribution. The first values of the first initial probability distribution are described using M bits, wherein M is a first positive integer. Second values of the updated first initial probability distribution are described using N bits, where N is a second positive integer that is greater than M. • Patent number: 10992939
Abstract: Coding a current block using a directional intra-prediction mode is described. A filter to apply to reference pixels peripheral to the current block is determined using a prediction angle of the intra-prediction mode and a size of the current block. The reference pixels are filtered using the filter to generate modified reference pixels, and a prediction block is generated for the current block using the intra-prediction mode and the modified reference pixels.

Abstract: An apparatus includes a memory and a processor. The processor is configured to execute instructions stored in the memory to obtain a transform type for decoding a transform block for the current block; select, based on the transform type, a template for coding a value of a non-zero map; select, based on the template, a context for entropy decoding the value of the non-zero map; and decode the value of the non-zero map based on the context. The non-zero map indicates which coefficients of the transform block have non-zero values. A method includes obtaining a transform class for coding a transform block for the current block, wherein the transform class corresponding to a transform type and a direction; selecting, based on the transform class, a coding context for coding a value of a non-zero map; and coding the value of the non-zero map based on the coding context.

  • Patent number: 10834410
Abstract: A method for coding a current block using an intra-prediction mode includes defining a mapping from available intra-prediction modes to intra-prediction classes; determining, using the mapping, a first intra-prediction class of a first intra-prediction mode used for decoding a first neighboring block of the current block; determining, using the mapping, a second intra-prediction class of a second intra-prediction mode used for decoding a second neighboring block of the current block; using the first intra-prediction class and the second intra-prediction class as indices into a list of available context models to select a context model for coding the intra-prediction mode; and coding the intra-prediction mode using the context model. A first number of the intra-prediction classes is smaller than a second number of the available intra-prediction modes. each class is an ordinal value, and each available intra-prediction mode uniquely maps to one class of the intra-prediction classes.

  • Patent number: 10818393
Abstract: A system for clinical decision support includes a database of previously-recorded waveform data from comparator-patients and a comparator module. The comparator module receives physiological waveform data for a patient and identifies a pattern in the patient's physiological waveform data, wherein the pattern accounts for a morphology and a rhythm of the patient's physiological waveform. The comparator module then compares the patient's physiological waveform data to the previously-recorded waveform data using a pattern recognition algorithm to detect the pattern in the previously-recorded waveform data to identify one or more matches. The comparator module further generates a result set based on the one or more matches.

  • Publication number: 20200265527
Abstract: The agronomic prescription product provides a tool and a method to increase crop yield in a defined geographical area, by an amount greater than a specified percentage of a subset of that field's historical yield for that same crop. Specifically, the novel method provides a computer processor (hereafter, “Improved Processor” or “Improved Computer”) improved by the incorporation of an Agronomic Prescription Product which enables the Improved Processor to generate a “prescription” based on crop type, field type, soil conditions, and pest pressure in the field to increase yield by an amount related to historical yield and determined by the Improved Processor (Crop Performance Guarantee). The Improved Processor generates agronomic prescription recommendations tailored to the purpose of increasing crop and plant type yield a certain amount relative to historical yield, along with a guaranteed increase related to the actual yield (Crop Performance Guarantee), should that yield be lower than prescribed.
