  • Publication number: 20220238295
Abstract: Methods of producing grating materials with variable height are provided. In one example, a method may include providing a grating material atop a substrate, and positioning a shadow mask between the grating material and an ion source, wherein the shadow mask is separated from the grating material by a distance. The method may further include etching the grating material using an ion beam passing through a set of openings of the shadow mask, wherein a first depth of a first portion of the grating material is different than a second depth of a second portion of the grating material.

  • Publication number: 20220234774
Abstract: A fully compostable beverage capsule may be produced by improving the seal strength between the capsule and its lid. Additionally, the lid itself may be made more resistant to the stress that occurs during brewing. In this invention, the lidding material is cut one or more times to produce a pattern similar to the blades of a pinwheel. The sections or “blades” are then overlapped and energetically welded to one another and joined to the beverage capsule. In this process, the double thickness of lidding material improves the seal between the lidding and the capsule. Each “blade” of the lidding has its own point of attachment to the capsule, which helps to isolate any stress that may occur during the beverage brewing process. As a result, the lidding as a whole remains securely attached to the capsule, even if one or two blades experience sufficient stress to trigger delamination.

  • Publication number: 20220237696
Abstract: Various of the disclosed embodiments concern systems and methods for expediting the settlement of securities traded on an exchange. A settlement system can generate electronic records of financial transactions by bundling a trade report, clearing instructions, etc., into a cryptographic ledger. Current cryptographic ledgers do not handle transactions at the rate which securities are traded. In order to improve rate processing for cryptographic ledgers sharded transaction trees are used.

  • Publication number: 20220239634
Abstract: Systems, methods and products for determining the trustworthiness of anonymous sensors, including a sensor health check, a data ballpark check, a reputation comparison, and optional “last resort” procedures. The sensor health check examines sensor operating parameters to see if they fall within an envelope of expected values. If not, the sensor is unhealthy and is not trusted. The data ballpark check determines whether the sensor's traffic data falls within a predefined envelope of values. If the sensor is healthy and the traffic is within expected ranges, the sensor is trusted. If the traffic data is outside expected ranges, the reputation comparison, determines whether IP addresses, domains or other IOCs in the traffic data are found in the reputation list which may corroborate the traffic as trustworthy because it represents malicious or not-in-the-wild traffic. “Last resort” procedures may include applying safelists/blocklists, signature controls etc. to verify sensor/data trustworthiness.

  • Publication number: 20220234772
Abstract: A fully compostable beverage capsule may be produced by improving the seal strength between the capsule and its lid. In this invention, a number of protruding “spikes” are added to the upper and/or lower edges of the capsule. The lidding is then attached to the capsule via an energetic welding process, such as ultrasonic welding. The protruding “spikes” are deformed during this welding, increasing the surface area contact between the capsule and its lidding. Acting similarly to rivets, these spikes will improve the strength of the seal that forms between the lidding and the capsule.

  • Publication number: 20220239842
Abstract: While displaying playback of a first portion of a video in a video playback region, a device receives a request to add a first annotation to the video playback. In response to receiving the request, the device pauses playback of the video at a first position in the video and displays a still image that corresponds to the first, paused position of the video. While displaying the still image, the device receives the first annotation on a first portion of a physical environment captured in the still image. After receiving the first annotation, the device displays, in the video playback region, a second portion of the video that corresponds to a second position in the video, where the first portion of the physical environment is captured in the second portion of the video and the first annotation is displayed in the second portion of the video.

  • Publication number: 20220237988
Abstract: A method of mapping sporting event results to inputs for a game is provided. One or more event results of a particular sporting event having a particular number of participants are received, and a set of rules is selected from a plurality of sets of rules based on the particular number of participants in the particular sporting event. For each of a plurality of bets, one or more inputs for a game are determined by applying the selected set of rules to the received one or more event results of the particular sporting event. The result of the game is then determined for each of the plurality of bets based at least on the one or more determined inputs for that bet.

  • Publication number: 20220238336
Abstract: Described herein are devices and methods for facet suppression in spalling of (100) GaAs by redirecting the fracture front along features created by buried nanoimprint lithography (NIL)-patterned SiO2. Successful facet suppression using patterns that result in favorable fracture along the SiO2/GaAs interface and/or through voids formed above the pattern in the coalesced layer is provided. These results allow for the design of patterns that would successfully interrupt the fracture front and suppress faceting that, combined with growth optimization, define a path forward for this technology to be used as a way to reduce the need for repreparation of the (100) GaAs substrate surface after spalling.

  • Publication number: 20220236473
Abstract: A multibeam backlight and multiview display employ a filling fraction of a diffraction grating to control diffractive scattering efficiency. The multibeam backlight includes a light guide configured to guide light and a plurality of multibeam elements, a multibeam element of the multibeam element plurality including a diffraction grating. The multibeam element is configured to diffractively scatter a portion of the guided light out of the light guide as directional light beams having different directions corresponding to different view directions of a multiview display. A filling fraction of diffractive features within the diffraction grating is configured to control a diffractive scattering efficiency of the multibeam element. The multiview display further includes an array of light valves configured to modulate the directional light beams to provide a multiview image. The filling fraction may be a ratio of diffractive features to filling features within the diffraction grating.
