  • Patent number: 4660097
Abstract: A method of encoding a recording signal which includes a composite color video signal and a digital audio signal, for recording the same on and reading it from an optical video disc is disclosed. The color video signal is frequency-modulated on a carrier wave in the customary manner, while the audio signal pulse-width modulates the carrier wave.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 2, 1985
Date of Patent: April 21, 1987
    Assignee: U.S. Philips Corporation
Inventors: Kornelis A. Schouhamer Immink, Ronaldus M. Aarts, Josephus A. H. M. Kahlman
  • Patent number: 4642702
Abstract: A method is described on encoding a recording signal comprising a composite color video signal and a digital audio signal, for recording said signal on and reading it from an optical video disc. The color video signal is frequency-modulated on a carrier in the customary manner, while the audio signal is added to said frequency-modulated signal as a pulse-width-modulated digital signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 13, 1984
Date of Patent: February 10, 1987
    Assignee: U.S. Philips Corporation
    Inventors: Josephus A. H. M. Kahlman, Adrianus H. Hoogendijk
  • Patent number: 4631714
Abstract: A compact-disc-digital-audio player may be adapted to read optical audio discs in which digital information is stored by controlling the time-base correction circuit in this player by means of a clock signal whose frequency is not a constant reference frequency but a frequency which is locked to the time base of the signal being read. As a result of this both the data signal and the subcode will have the same time base without the necessity of modifying the integrate circuits available for the compact-disc digital-audio player.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 17, 1983
Date of Patent: December 23, 1986
    Assignee: U.S. Philips Corporation
    Inventors: Josephus A. H. M. Kahlman, Constant P. M. J. Baggen
