Publication number: 20220300502Abstract: A system for securely and efficiently obtaining data from a process plant and processing that data for consumption by one or more external applications or systems includes receiving event data from various data sources in or associated with a plant via various different data formats and data communication structures at a centralized server or gateway, striping off the communication format structure from the data, placing the data, including metadata associated with the data, into an event stream, and making the data in the event stream available to a processing infrastructure that processes that data in a comprehensive and robust manner for easy consumption by external data mining, data visualization and data analytic systems or applications.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2020Publication date: September 22, 2022Inventors: Alper T. Enver, Joshua B. Kidd, Emilee C. Cook, Jesse Albritton, Mathew Varghese, Marcus Shane Strangeway Orchard, Mark J. Nixon

Publication number: 20210034034Abstract: A quality review system may be used to analyze the operation of manufacturing processes within a plant based on data collected by various data sources in the plant to automatically detect, store and display predetermined conditions within the process effecting the quality of the product produced by the plant. The quality review system includes a configuration application that enables a user to create one or more monitoring rules, a monitoring application that collects data from the process and that uses the monitoring rules during operation of the process to analyze the process data to detect one or more predetermined conditions within the process, and an external receiver that stores and/or uses the messages pertaining to the detected predetermined conditions.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2020Publication date: February 4, 2021Inventors: Todd A. Cook, Joshua B. Kidd, Marcus Shane Strangeway Orchard

Patent number: 10877465Abstract: Securing communications from a process plant to a remote system includes a data diode disposed there between that allows data to egress from the plant but prevents ingress of data into the plant and its associated systems. Process plant data from the secure communications is then analyzed to detect conditions occurring at process plant entities in the process plant using various machine learning techniques. When the process plant entity is a valve, the mode of operation for the valve is determined and a different analysis is applied for each mode in which a valve operates. Additionally, the process plant data for each valve is compared to other valves in the same process plant, enterprise, industry, etc. Accordingly, the health of each of the valves is ranked relative to each other and the process plant data for each valve is displayed in a side-by-side comparison.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2016Date of Patent: December 29, 2020Assignee: FISHER-ROSEMOUNT SYSTEMS, INC.Inventors: Mark J. Nixon, Joshua B. Kidd, Michael J. Boudreaux, Shawn W. Anderson, Eric Rotvold
