  • Patent number: 6902200
Abstract: The pivoting knuckle joint for an outdoor lighting fixture comprises a base knuckle, a top knuckle and a fastener for locking the base and top knuckles in position. Each of the base knuckle and top knuckle has a generally cylindrical body with a domed top, a portion of which is cut-away to form a flattened face, and circular cavity formed in the flattened face with a tapered ferrule formed in and extending from the cavity. The ferrule of one of the knuckles has a smaller diameter than the other, so that the smaller ferrule fits within the larger ferrule, forming a pivot point. The relative diameters are adapted to closely fit such that friction is generated between the interfitting ferrules to form a taper lock, resisting rotation of one knuckle relative to the other.

  • Patent number: 6497592
Abstract: The transformer box connector comprises a plurality of terminal blocks and a terminal block retainer with a hinged cover mounted on a housing. The terminal block retainer has a plurality of insulating ribs that act as partitions. Terminal blocks for receiving at least one electrical wire are mounted within the spaces between each insulating rib. Each terminal block is mounted to the terminal block retainer by a planar member that extends from its base. A fastening member, which provides an electrical connection from the wire secured in the terminal blocks to the transformer, extends from the planar member and can be configured as a fastening screw or a fastening post. The fastening member provides means for attaching the terminal block to the terminal block retainer and to the transformer housing. The hinged cover may include openings for access to set screws in the terminal blocks.

  • Patent number: 6491407
Abstract: The in-ground, or “well light”, fixture comprises a hollow cylindrical housing, a bezel and lens mounted at the upper end of the housing, and a lamp assembly comprising a watertight lamp enclosure containing a lamp and reflector. The lamp enclosure is secured by support brackets which extend downward from the bottom portion of the bezel to provide three-axis adjustability of the lamp. An optional mounting ring is attached at the upper end of the housing to form a flange to facilitate stable placement of the well light in the ground as well as providing an attractive frame around the fixture. The lens is retained at a shallow angle within the bezel to permit water and dirt to run off of the lens surface.

  • Patent number: 6422717
Abstract: The outdoor lighting comprises a stem, a socket disposed in the top of the stem for retaining a halogen lamp, a socket housing, a diffuser lens and a reflector top. The socket housing has a lower cylindrical portion having a first inner diameter for fitting over the outer diameter of the upper part of the stem, a second cylindrical portion having a second inner diameter larger than the first inner diameter adapted to closely fit over the outer diameter of the cylindrical diffuser lens. The lower cylindrical portion of the socket housing has a slot extending upward from its bottom edge with a width greater than a diameter of a locking screw that is screwed into a bore in the side of the stem.
