Abstract: The present invention is a system and method for tracking items. The present invention includes a device configured to perform registrations of items. The present invention may involve registering an item through use of a short-range communication system. The item may communicate via a short-range communication protocol and be associated with an identifier. A device may be utilized to scan for the item via the short-range communication protocol. Input to the device may be detected and recognized as indicating a snooze function that temporarily suppresses an alert associated with an out-of range condition for the item.
