  • Publication number: 20240035404
Abstract: An oil separation baffle is mounted in an oil gallery of an internal combustion engine. A lower section includes a bottom wall and side window openings. Crankcase gasses flow into the side window openings, through the lower section, and through the top opening. An upper section includes a plurality of ribs extending horizontally between a front side wall of the upper section and a rear side wall of the upper section. The plurality of ribs are vertically spaced apart from each other and extend from a first wall of the oil gallery toward a second wall of the oil gallery to an opening defined between a distal end of the rib and the other of the first and second walls of the oil gallery. The bottom planar wall separates larger oil droplets and the ribs separate smaller oil particles from the crankcase gasses and return the oil to the crankcase.

  • Patent number: 11209032
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for a fastening assembly. In one example, the fastening assembly includes a vibration dampening element, a two-piece insert, a lower portion, and a fastener configured to engage with the two-piece insert and the lower portion of the assembly. The fastening assembly may be at least partially assembled during manufacture of components to be coupled via the fastening assembly, allowing the components to be readily coupled during final installation of the fastening assembly.

Date of Patent: December 28, 2021
    Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLC

  • Patent number: 9541044
Abstract: An intake manifold for an internal combustion engine comprises upper and lower shell members with outer flanges. The shell members define a manifold cavity having a plenum and a plurality of runners. The upper shell includes an upper post formed as an indentation into the plenum with a tunnel wall and a terminus wall. The lower shell includes a lower post formed as an indentation into the plenum with a tunnel wall and a terminus wall. The terminus walls are attached to provide a brace across the plenum. One of the posts includes an orifice penetrating the tunnel wall. A sealed coupler extends from the one post and is adapted to receive a secondary gas for mixing within the plenum. Thus, secondary gases can be introduced without additional structures that could impede gas flow and could increase manufacturing cost.

  • Publication number: 20160169171
Abstract: An intake manifold is adapted for use with an engine in a front wheel drive vehicle and a rear wheel drive vehicle, for example, with both a transversely mounted and longitudinally mounted engine. The intake manifold is modular and includes a plenum body defining a first port and a second port. A series of runners are adapted to connect to the plenum body. A throttle body connector is adapted to connect to the first port and the second port based on the engine positioning in the vehicle. An end plate is adapted to connect to the first port and the second port.
