  • Patent number: 10433532
Abstract: A bow fishing reel for mounting on a bow. The reel provides an indicator for alerting a shooter when the reel is configured to fire safely. A main shaft in a body of the reel is positionable from a rearward winding position to a forward casting position by depressing a thumb button protruding the reel body. A thumb button structure engages with the main shaft for transitioning the main shaft from the rearward winding position to the forward casting position. A visual indicator displays a first indicator when the main shaft and thumb button are in the casting position. The visual indicator may be located on an indicator portion of the thumb button that is visible through an indicator window on a reel upper surface. The visual indicator may include a negative indicator and a positive indicator. A secondary negative indicator may also be provided on the thumb button.

  • Publication number: 20190014762
Abstract: A fishing rod shaft having a line guide body, e.g., a rod tip body and/or a middle line guide body designed to minimize snag locations and that facilitate exiting of fishing line wound around the shaft by flicking the rod in a casting-type motion. The outer surface of the bodies define a line opening for receiving fishing line. The line opening communicates with a line passageway. The outer surface defines a continuous, smooth, uninterrupted surface from the attached end to the terminal end but for the line opening. The line opening and the line passageway preferably define the only path to an exit orifice and the line passageway between the line opening and the exit orifice is continuous and defines no openings. The described configuration eliminates snag locations for a fishing hook or for fishing line except for the openings of the line passageway.

  • Patent number: 8573524
Abstract: A fishing reel has a frame. A first cover assembly is affixed to a first side of the frame. A second cover assembly is affixed to a second side of the frame. At least one of the first cover assembly and the second cover assembly define at least one opening for receiving a panel member. The cover assemblies define supporting structure that is preferably made of a metal. The panel member defines non-supporting structure that is preferably made up of non-metallic structure such as plastic polymer and carbon fiber. The panel member may be transparent and is preferably replaceable to allow a user to customize the appearance of the reel.

  • Patent number: 7222810
Abstract: A clicker mechanism for a fishing reel is described. A typical fishing reel has a spool defining an orifice and a shaft passing through the orifice. A component having an irregular surface, such as a gear-like component with teeth or a ring defining a serrated inner surface engages the shaft. A clicker assembly may be affixed to the spool. The clicker assembly includes a clicker for engaging the clicker gear. The clicker alternately moves from a first position to a second position. The clicker assembly utilizes a magnet that provides a magnetic force to return the clicker to the first position from the second position. Two magnets may be used to exert magnetic force against one another, either with an attracting or a repelling force.
