Publication number: 20240058188Abstract: A wheelchair is provided. First supports for supporting a user of the wheelchair are unevenly disposed to form a perimeter, and second supports for supporting the user of the wheelchair are unevenly disposed at least partially within the perimeter of the first supports. The first supports support the user when the first supports are in a raised position and the second supports are in a lowered position. The second supports support the user when the second supports are in a raised position and the first supports are in a lowered position. A alternation of supporting the user with the first supports or the second supports facilitates reduction of pressure sores of the user. In various embodiments, multiple groups of supports are used, the supports contour to a user's anatomy and/or the supports are pneumatic.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 1, 2023Publication date: February 22, 2024Applicant: Center for Disability ServicesInventors: Eric H. Ledet, Colleen P. Healey, Joshua M. Peterson

Patent number: 11733006Abstract: A revetment container including series of compartments conjoined to form a line of compartments with each compartment including a first sub-compartment and a second sub-compartment with the two sub-compartments having differing thickness in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction of the series of compartments and a thinner of the two sub-compartments including one or more tension bearing members to control thickness expansion of the thinner sub-compartment where the bearing member is longer than the unstressed thickness of the thinner sub-compartment and preferentially located in a top half of the height of the thinner sub-compartment. Additionally, a revetment container compartment may be provided with a sub-compartment sized to accept ballistic panels which can quickly be inserted to attain some level of protection. Furthermore a revetment contain compartment may be augmented with the addition of slat armor.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2019Date of Patent: August 22, 2023Assignee: UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AS REPRESENTED BY THE SECRETARY OF THE ARMYInventors: John Paulson, Brennan S Fridley, Gerrit Van Ommering, Joshua M Peterson, Paul F Mlakar

Patent number: 10932966Abstract: A wheelchair is provided. The wheelchair includes supports for supporting a user. The supports are configured to reduce or prevent ischemia or pressure sores of the user. In another aspect, a system of supports for supporting a user is presented. A group of the supports is arranged along the perimeter of the shape. At least some of the group of the supports have different vertical positions. In another aspect, the supports are arranged as a repeating pattern of shapes, the individual supports being peripherally disposed along perimeters of the shapes. The repeating pattern of shapes includes a first shape overlapping with a second shape, and some of the individual supports are disposed along perimeters of both the first and second shapes.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2017Date of Patent: March 2, 2021Assignee: Center for Disability ServicesInventors: Eric H. Publication number: 20160377388Abstract: Soil-filled barriers, normally filled with heavy equipment, can be made quickly effective against small arms fire by modifying each cell of a barrier line (wall) with internal closeable gates that allow users to manually shovel fill a small arms security position in 65% less time than manually filling a standard barrier. Select embodiments of the present invention include gates that are inexpensive and lightweight compared to alternatives and readily fielded, in some instances as a field expedient modification. In select embodiments of the present invention the gates may be integrated into fielded conventional barriers, including employing field expedient means, as well as incorporated into production lines of new barriers specifically for use by light military units that operate in restrictive terrain.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 11, 2013Publication date: December 29, 2016Applicant: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers(r)Inventors: Gerrit P.
