  • Patent number: 10293635
Abstract: A rim for a bicycle wheel that includes a tire, hub and spokes. The bicycle rim generally includes a radially outer tire-engaging portion, a radially inner spoke-engaging portion, a first sidewall and a second sidewall spaced apart from the first sidewall. The first and second sidewalls extend between the tire engaging and spoke-engaging portions. The tire-engaging and spoke-engaging portions and first and second sidewalls form a toroid. The rim when attached to the tire forms a side profile and a transverse cross section that positions a center of pressure of the rim.

  • Publication number: 20150165845
Abstract: A valve stem extender can be coupled to a valve stem having a fluid receiving passageway for use with a vehicle wheel and tire. The valve stem extender includes a body having a proximal end portion, a distal end portion, an interior passageway extending between the distal and proximal end portions, and an exterior. The proximal end portion includes a coupler for coupling the valve stem extender to a valve stem to place the interior passageway of the valve stem in fluid communication with the fluid receiving passageway of the valve stem extender. The distal end portion is configured for receiving an air introducing device. The body includes a compressible portion. The compressible portion is radially compressible between a relatively larger diameter relaxed position, and a relatively smaller diameter compressed position for snugly coupling the valve stem extender to a vehicle wheel.

  • Publication number: 20060090589
Abstract: A handlebar for a bicycle has first and second laterally extending portions disposed outboard of a central attachment portion. Each of the first and second laterally extending portions is preferably winged-like in configuration to provide reduced air resistance. The first laterally extending portion includes an aerobar clamping mechanism, and the second laterally extending portion includes a second aerobar clamping mechanism. Each aerobar clamping mechanism includes a tapered receiving sleeve having an axis that is generally parallel to a travel axis of the handlebar. A collet having a major axis that extends in a plane generally parallel to the direction of travel of the bicycle is receivable within the receiving sleeve. The collet includes a plurality of axially extending slots that permits the diameter of the collet to be varied. The collet includes an aerobar receiving slot having a major axis that is generally co-linear with the axis of the collet, and is provided for receiving an aerobar.
