Abstract: A Method of batch processing a group of hardcopy documents scans a stack of documents. Each document in the stack has a cover sheet is placed thereon. The method performs optical character recognition on each of the cover sheets in the stack. The method performs an operation on each of the documents in the stack in accordance with instructions on the cover sheet on each document. Examples of operations that may be performed include printing the document, sending the document by fax to a recipient, sending an image file of the document by email to a recipient, and the like.

Abstract: A method for displaying metadata associated with webpage content, the method comprising, receiving a designation of webpage content displayed on a first webpage, copying the designated webpage content from the first webpage, determining whether document object model data associated with the first webpage includes a favicon, extracting favicon data from document object model data associated with the first webpage responsive to determining that the document object model data associated with the first webpage includes a favicon, generating a visual representation of the favicon data responsive to extracting the favicon data, generating a content box on a second webpage, displaying the content box on the second webpage, displaying the webpage content in the content box on the second webpage, and displaying the visual representation of the favicon data in the content box responsive to generating the visual representation.

Abstract: A transmitting device wirelessly broadcasts a time signal over a general purpose wireless network. A receiving device wirelessly receives the time signal without having established a connection with the transmitting device. The receiving device sets a lock thereof based on the time signal. The general purpose wireless network can be an 802.11a, an 802.11b, an 802.11g, an 802.11n, and/or a Bluetooth wireless network over which the transmitting device communicates with devices, other than the receiving device that are connected to the transmitting device. The general purpose wireless network can further be a mobile phone network over which the transmitting device communicates with devices, other than the receiving device, that are connected to the transmitting device.

Abstract: A method for automatically adding citation information to a document, the method comprising: detecting an occurrence of a copy operation in a metadata aware application; capturing citation metadata associated with the copied material in the metadata aware application; detecting a paste command in a metadata aware word processing application; determining a document type from the metadata aware word processing application; formatting the captured citation metadata in response to the document type, the formatting including assigning tags to the citation metadata; and providing the formatted citation metadata to the metadata aware word processing application for generation a citation information.
