Abstract: A lid with a retractable straw for a cup or other fluid container is provided. The device includes a body including a cavity that extends from a bottom surface of the body to an upper surface of the body and a lid positionable between a closed position in which the lid lays on an upper surface of the body and an open position in which the lid is displaced from the upper surface of the body. The device also includes a tube, a straw and a mouthpiece. The mouthpiece coupled to the body and in fluid communication with the tube, the mouthpiece being positionable between a closed position in which the mouthpiece crimps the tube to the bottom surface of the body and an open position in which the tube couples the mouthpiece in fluid communication with the straw.

Abstract: A device for transporting and drinking liquids includes a body having a sidewall extending longitudinally between an upper surface and a lower surface. The sidewall has an inner surface that defines at least part of an aperture through the body and an outer surface, opposite the inner surface. The device also includes a sealing surface projecting from the inner surface of the body and a seal actuator including a linkage engaged with a seal. The seal is engaged with the inner surface of the body; the linkage is adapted to translate rotational displacement of the linkage into a linear displacement of the seal towards and away from the sealing surface of the body between closed and open positions. A lever engaged with the linkage is adapted to impart a rotational force onto the linkage to rotate.

Abstract: A device to enable user inhalation and exhalation of air. The air delivered by the device may or may not be aromatically conditioned with user-selected aroma. Further, the air may or may not be thermally conditioned by the device to deliver air that is chilled, warmed, or ambient. The device can include a mask subassembly; an aroma subassembly; a neck portion; a base subassembly with thermal mass; and a soft, insulated cover assembly. Methods of using the device i) teach breathing techniques for relaxation using sensory feedback from the device; ii) educate, establish and heighten awareness of positive sleep routines that are considered important in healthy sleep hygiene; iii) aid in identifying behaviors that are not conducive to good sleep hygiene; iv) assist the user in identifying dysfunctional rumination and belief systems about sleep and relaxation; and v) educate the user about breathing techniques and relaxation.

Abstract: A slicing and dicing device which includes a pivoted lever which when stroked slides a pusher assembly partway along on a main body towards a cutter piece to slice an interposed item. Gearing operated by the lever disengages after each stroke to allow another stroke, reducing the peak effect required by limiting the range of motion to a range where good leverage is obtained. A dicing assembly is mounted forward of the cutter piece for vertical sliding motion to allow cross cutting of strips sliced out of the item by the cutter piece.

Abstract: A kitchen whisk having a whisk-head attached to a grippable handle by a coupling, the handle having a flex zone for enhancing the “whipping” action of the whisk-head. A cable can be embedded within the flex zone region of the handle for reinforcing the same, the ends of the cable being disposed between and encased within a handle core and an inner plug core, the inner plug core being located within the coupling. In addition, the coupling captures the ends of the wires for attachment to the handle.

Abstract: A hand-held hand-powered food processor having a pull cord motor for rotating a spindle that carries an arm. The arm can be a cutter blade or an elastomeric flexible peeler arm having a durometer of preferable between Shore 80A and Shore 82A. A food processor having a spindle, an elastomeric arm driven by the spindle, a stop block on a sidewall near the end of the arm, and a drive for rotating the spindle to rub against the skin of food in the processor for peeling the food. The cover of the processor has a flat outer periphery so the cover can be used as a storage unit for the contents of the processor.
