  • Publication number: 20130151725
Abstract: A method and system is provided for handling Domain Name Service (“DNS”) requests. A network interface device can broadcast multiple virtual addresses to a client device, where the multiple virtual addresses correlate to multiple actual DNS server addresses. The network interface device can process a DNS request originating from the client device, where the DNS request is directed to one of the multiple virtual addresses and where the DNS request is based on DNS server management logic executing on the client device.

  • Patent number: 7870582
Abstract: Herein described are at least a method and a system for providing an extended forecast of scheduled video programming information provided by a multimedia provider. The extended forecast processes electronic program data (EPG) provided by the multimedia provider, such that a long term program guide (LTPG) may be developed. The LTPG provides a forecast of programs to be broadcasted that extends beyond what the EPG may provide. The method generates the LTPG by utilizing algorithms that compare newly received EPG data against historically processed EPG data. The system comprises a controller, a processor used for extracting EPG data from a signal, a memory that stores software, and a remote sensor capable of receiving signals transmitted by a remote control. When executed by the controller, the software implements the algorithms that generate the LTPG.

  • Publication number: 20080316873
Abstract: Systems and method for initializing the software for an optical disc player are provided. The optical disc player may include an operating system, an application framework, and a disc loader comprising a disc tray. The method may also include, in response to receiving a tray open request, executing a board support package. The package supports a loading of the operating system and may establish a communication protocol with the loader. Finally, the package may execute a disc tray open command code. One embodiment of the method may conclude by loading the operating system.

  • Publication number: 20080031600
Abstract: Herein described is a method and system of providing advertising content from a third party provider while playing a movie stored in an optical media. The movie is played back as a primary video stream while the advertising content is incorporated as a secondary video stream. One or more visual objects displayed by the movie may serve as one or more virtual billboards. The advertising content is incorporated into one or more virtual billboards as the movie is played. In a representative embodiment, the primary video stream is stored in an optical disc while the secondary video stream is stored in a remote server. The advertising content provided by the secondary video may be modified to suit the needs of the third party provider. The third party provider may comprise an advertising company, a product manufacturer, or a service provider, for example.

  • Publication number: 20060114995
Abstract: In a video processing system, a method and system for high speed video encoding using parallel encoders are provided. A delimiter may break up a video sequence into encoding groups that are transferred to a plurality of parallel encoders. The parallel encoders may process and transfer intra-coded pictures in the encoding groups to previous parallel encoders or may process and transfer last predictive pictures to next parallel encoders. When intra-coded pictures are transferred, the encoding group may correspond to that of a GOP structure. When predictive pictures are transferred, the encoding group may end in at least one bidirectional-predictive picture. The parallel encoders process the transferred intra-coded pictures or transferred predictive pictures to generate a plurality of parallel outputs. An assembler assembles an encoded video output from the parallel outputs based on timing information. A controller controls the operation of the delimiter, the parallel encoders, and the assembler.

  • Patent number: 6568538
Abstract: Method and system for identifying and facilitating access to computer printouts contained in an array of printout bins. Each printout is provided with indicium information concerning the project and/or the user for whom the printout was prepared. When the printout is placed in a bin, the indicium information is entered and displayed adjacent to the printout bin. A user examines the bin displays, identifies the bin(s) containing the user's printout(s), removes the printout and advises the system that the printout has been removed. Thereafter, the display no longer includes indicium information for the removed printout. One or more bins for confidential printouts can be locked, with bin access allowed only if (1) acceptable confidential user identification is presented and (2) at least one printout for that user is presently contained in the locked bin. Indicium information can be communicated to the printout bin or to a project monitor independently of whether a printout is prepared.

  • Patent number: 6310986
Abstract: A method and apparatus for assisting in the rotation of digital images is described. The digital image is divided by a separate process into image blocks which are rotated through a predetermined angle. Data moving hardware then processes the image blocks to determine the proper placement of each block in a frame buffer to create a properly rotated image. A set of predetermined values based on characteristics of the input image and the predetermined output image format is provided to the data moving hardware from a value processor. The data moving hardware performs only additions and subtractions. The only multiplication necessary for the method is performed by the processor prior to placement of the rotated image blocks in an output frame buffer. Thus the rate of processing the rotated image blocks is significantly improved.
