Abstract: A technique smartly manages user information. The technique involves receiving, using an input device, an input value from the user during a user transaction. The technique further involves applying, using electronic circuitry, an algorithm to generate a token on behalf of the user. The algorithm is arranged to provide tokens in a non-reproducible manner to prevent discovery of input values based on the tokens. The technique further involves associating the token value with the input value and collecting user information and associating the user information with the token during a time range which includes periods of transaction inactivity and further transaction activity by the user. Along these lines, the technique is capable of implementing mutually exclusive token states (e.g., “active”, “inactive”, “deactivated” and “compromised”) to smartly coordinate and maintain certain user information.

Abstract: An improved technique for granting access to a complex datum maps a single user token representing a user onto a set of data group tokens, each data group token providing access to a data group stored on a storage medium. The improved technique combines the centralization of the complex datum while providing the security of tokenization and will lower the risk of a rogue third party gaining unauthorized access to the user's records stored across the data groups.

The identifier can be obtained by decoding a watermark, performing a hashing algorithm on content data, reading a bar code, etc. The object can be physical (e.g., a magazine page) or electronic (e.g., music or image data). Suitable devices useful with this technology include cell phones, PDAs, and the like, which may include sensors for capturing object data. Abstract: An interactive television program guide is provided. The interactive television program guide provides a user with the opportunity to select a language for playing television programming and displaying program guide text. Television program audio in the desired language may be obtained from a SAP or digital audio track and played in the selected language. Television related information in the desired language may be obtained from a digital track. If television program audio or related information is not provided in the selected language, the program guide may use a default language. The program guide may coordinate program guide display screen text with languages available for television programs when the programs are broadcast to users.

Abstract: A hybrid passive-interactive program guide is generated by combining the features of an interactive program guide with the passive video portion of a passive program guide. The interactive guide may replace passive listings with interactive listings, replace passive features with interactive features, provide supplemental advertisements, or replace passive tagging information with interactive tagging information. Users may be provided with an opportunity to purchase a program or product being advertised, to view listings for segments aired in the video portion of the passive guide, to schedule reminders for listings or video segments that are displayed by the passive guide, or to schedule video segments and related information for recording.
