Publication number: 20240081640Abstract: Described are implementations of systems and methods for an improved machine learning-based system that incorporates pre-operative and intraoperative measurements captured during surgery, as well as additional patient-specific data, to provide an individualized, highly accurate post-operative manifest refraction prediction. According to some embodiments, a determination engine generates a predictive feature set of one or more predictors associated with diagnostic measurements of one or more eyes and performs a recursive selection operation using one or more combinations within the predictive feature set and one or more models to produce a most predictive subset, the most predictive subset having a highest prediction accuracy among other predictive subsets for post-operative manifest refraction. The determination engine generates a determination model by refining and retraining the one or more models of the recursive selection operation utilizing the most predictive subset.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2023Publication date: March 14, 2024Inventors: Charles Scales, Guang-ming Dai, Joshua Young, Jeroen Van Der Donckt, Michael Rademaker, Benjamin Straker, Gilles Vandewiele

Publication number: 20230405383Abstract: A hand-held unit that allows a user to perform, in a seated, kneeling, lying down or standing position, a variety of isometric exercises for the muscles of the trunk, upper body and lower body in 1.5 inch increments. The load is generated by the force initiated by the user and is transmitted through a 19 ft, 1.5 in wide “seatbelt grade” polyester strap with a load rating of 4000-6000 lb. The strap is folded in half and mounted to a spool that rotates when the locking pin that is mounted to the fixed outside wall is pulled and held by the user. The unit locks when the locking pin is released via spring loaded into a locking mechanism welded to the side of the spool. The looped strap can be adjusted to any needed length for a particular user and a particular exercise. The device adapts to right- or left-handed operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2022Publication date: December 21, 2023Inventor: Joshua Young

Patent number: 11484338Abstract: A trocar assembly includes a trocar housing that defines a working chamber, and a cannula having a proximal end and a distal end, wherein the cannula is coupled to the trocar housing at the proximal end to facilitate communication between the cannula and the working chamber. A plurality of radial support members are arranged at or near the distal end and comprise a plurality of keystones arranged side by side to form a ring within the cannula. Each radial support member extends radially inward toward a centerline of the cannula to center a surgical tool within the cannula and thereby minimize unintended oscillation and vibration of the surgical tool.Type: GrantFiled: April 21, 2020Date of Patent: November 1, 2022Assignee: CILAG GMBH INTERNATIONALInventor: Joshua Young

Patent number: 11471228Abstract: Various exemplary methods, systems, and devices for near field communication (NFC) between a surgical instrument and a robotic surgical system are provided. In general, a surgical tool is configured to move between different modes of communication with a robotic surgical system to which the tool is releasably and replaceably coupled. The different modes of communication are detectable by the robotic surgical system by the tool's frequency of NFC with the robotic surgical system. The tool includes a mechanism configured to be manipulated by a user of the tool to move the tool between the different modes of communication. The tool operating in a first mode of communication indicates to the robotic surgical system that the tool is operating in a normal state. The tool operating in each of one or more additional modes of communication indicates that the tool is operating in an error state.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2020Date of Patent: October 18, 2022Assignee: Cilag GmbH InternationalInventors: Mark D.
