  • Publication number: 20210370826
Abstract: A dual mode UV-C disinfection system for the cleaning of automotive cabin air and surfaces includes a UV light source, a motor for moving cabin air in proximity to the at least one UV light source and a shutter configured in proximity to the at least one UV light source. A controller for controlling operation of the light source, motor and shutter and a first sensor for determining the presence of persons within proximity to the at least one UV light source. The UV light source operates to either disinfect cabin air or cabin surfaces depending on the position of the shutter.

  • Publication number: 20210369908
Abstract: A method for providing dual mode UV automotive disinfection includes the step of providing one or more UV light sources and moving automotive cabin air in proximity to the light sources. A shutter is configured in proximity to the light source in either an open or closed position where operation of the light source(s), motor and shutter are controlled where the light sources operate in a first mode by disinfecting cabin air in proximity to the light source or in a second mode using the at least one light source to irradiate cabin surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20210369907
Abstract: A device providing dual mode ultraviolet (UV) disinfection includes a housing for one or more light sources therein operating in the UV-C spectrum. A dynamically moveable shutter assembly is used for disinfecting air moving through the housing, or directing light from light source to a designated area of a motor vehicle interior.

  • Publication number: 20210370827
Abstract: An auto-calibrating dual mode UV-C disinfection system for the cleaning of automotive cabin air and surfaces includes one or more UV-C light sources operating to clean cabin air in a first mode and operating to clean interior surfaces in a second mode. Sensor(s) operate to auto-calibrating the at least one UV-C light source by determining distance of at least one interior surface. A controller determines an intensity and duration of the light source(s) based upon distance of that at least one interior surface from the UV-C light source.
