    Abstract: A sonic window implant having a border forming a ledge for attachment to the cranium. A sonic window, formed within the border, has a top exterior surface and a bottom interior surface. The top exterior surface and the bottom interior surface are parallel and curved. The implant is made of polyether ether ketone and is highly polished to allow transmission of ultrasound while the ledge is reflective of ultrasound for visualization of the border. Sutures in the sonic window tent the dura mater to the bottom interior surface. The sonic window has an access port for injection of therapeutics and application of instruments. The implant allows the use of ultrasound for imaging, diagnosis, and intraoperative treatment of the brain and allows ultrasound to be combined with pre-operative imaging from CT, MRI, PET, MEG, or EEG.
