Abstract: The method is for producing a disk of the type having a central hub surrounded by an abrasive material, the hub having an aperture of the type provided in abrasive discs sold by Robert Bosch GmbH under the trademark X-LOCK, the method comprising the steps: positioning a metal hub against an abrasive disc, the metal hub having an annular portion and a plurality of tabs, the annular portion defining an aperture of the type provided in abrasive discs sold by Robert Bosch GmbH under the trademark X-LOCK and the plurality of tabs protruding from the annular portion, against an abrasive disc, the abrasive disc having a central void, and the positioning being such that the metal hub occludes the central void and the tabs protrude through the disc; and bending the tabs such that the abrasive disc is gripped between the annular portion and the tabs.

Abstract: A method for producing abrasive products and an abrasive product. The abrasive products have a connector protruding therefrom, the connector being one of an interiorly-threaded hub, a protruding shaft and an exteriorly-threaded stud. The method includes a plurality of abrasive flaps secured to one another and to a disk from which the connector protrudes by adhesive. The improvement includes forming the connector separately from the disk and securing thereto after the plurality of abrasive flaps have been secured to the disk.

Abstract: An improved abrasive disc for use with an angle grinder is disclosed. The grinder is of the type having a threaded spindle. The disc is of the type having: a central portion defining a threaded bore for receiving said spindle; and abrasive material surrounding the central portion. The improvement comprises: a hub defining the threaded bore; an annular element providing the abrasive material, the annular element having a central primary aperture aligned with the threaded bore in the hub to provide access to the bore by said spindle in use; and elements mechanically securing the hub to the annular element, for co-rotation. Apparatus and methods for producing discs are also disclosed.
