The methods include administering a therapeutic amount of a histamine 1 receptor antagonist, a histamine 3 receptor antagonist, and/or a combination histamine 1/3 receptor antagonist. It may also be further advantageous to administer a therapeutic amount of a serotonin receptor antagonist in the methods disclosed herein.

The methods of the present invention are useful for treating patients with hypercholesterolemia that is not adequately controlled by moderate-dose statin therapy.
