  • Patent number: 5781172
Abstract: A joystick, mouse, or trackball having a rotationally-symmetrical member. The joystick or the like can be braked by an appropriate control signal from a data processing apparatus such as a computer. Mechanical feedback to the operator is thus realized. In accordance with the invention, the joystick, mouse or trackball also includes an accelerator which is capable of positively accelerating the joystick, mouse or trackball in a desired direction. The mechanical feedback is thus substantially improved.

  • Patent number: 5319747
Abstract: A data processing system having a hand-gesture based display, user communication through the system and interaction with the system being effected by inputting of data signified by a hand code which includes representations of commonly understood natural hand gestures. This enables such communication and interaction to be achieved with compact data formats, represented by displayed hand postures, thereby achieving reduced bandwidth and increased data input speed.
