  • Publication number: 20080117877
Abstract: An apparatus and method for performing effective Automatic Repeat reQuest (ARQ) in a multi-hop relay system is provided. The method includes the steps of determining whether a Mobile Station (MS) enters a handover region; if it is determined that the MS enters the handover region, transmitting an E2E-ARQ-Request message, which provides a notification that an End-to-End (E2E) ARQ method has begun to be used, to at least one of a Relay Station (RS) and the MS, transmitting to the RS an ARQ block to be transmitted to the MS, and storing the ARQ block in a queue; and if an Acknowledgement (ACK) for the ARQ block is received from the RS and if an E2E ACK which provides a notification that the MS has received the ARQ block is received from the at least one of the RS and the MS, discarding the ARQ block from the queue. Thus, excellent throughput and Media Access Control (MAC) efficiency can be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20080112365
Abstract: A technique for managing a packet to be transmitted to a Mobile Station (MS) that performs Relay Station (RS) handover in a multi-hop relay Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) system is provided. In the BWA system, a Base Station (BS) includes a controller for determining whether to perform activecasting on an MS upon receiving an activecast request message; a scheduler for allocating a resource by taking into consideration a channel condition between the MS and a serving RS when activecasting is determined to be performed; and a transmitter for multicasting a packet, which is to be transmitted to the MS, to a target RS and the serving RS by using the allocated resource.

  • Publication number: 20070211662
Abstract: A system and method for transmitting resource allocation information in a wireless communication system is provided. A transmitter transmits resource allocation information mapped to a current time interval in a first region to a receiver, and transmits resource allocation information mapped to a next time interval in a second region. When receiving the resource allocation information of the second region, the receiver notifies the transmitter whether the resource allocation information has been received. The transmitter receives notification that the resource allocation information of the second region has been received and transmits resource allocation information mapped to a subsequent time interval in the second region.

  • Publication number: 20070213070
Abstract: A method is provided for transmitting/receiving data in a communication system. The method includes allocating, by a Base Station (BS), bands unused in a band Adaptive-Modulation-and-Coding (band AMC) scheme to Mobile Stations (MSs) of a diversity scheme, and transmitting data by adaptively using the band AMC scheme and the diversity scheme; and identifying, by an MS, resources allocated to the MS, and transmitting data by using either the band AMC scheme or the diversity scheme according to a result of the identifying.

  • Publication number: 20070207742
Abstract: A method of reporting channel state information by a Mobile Station (MS) in a mobile communication system is disclosed. The method includes measuring a state of a downlink channel for the entire frequency band, determining a first Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS) level corresponding to the measured channel state, and reporting the determined MCS level to a Base Station (BS).

  • Publication number: 20070177541
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for transmitting/receiving signals in a communication system. A base station allocates a quasi-dedicated control channel (QDCCH) to a first mobile station (MS), and allocates the QDCCH allocated to the first MS, to a second MS for a preset time. An MS receives a QDCCH allocated from the base station. If there is data to transmit to the base station, the MS determines whether the QDCCH is allocated to another MS different from the MS. If it is determined that the QDCCH is allocated to the MS itself, the MS transmits the data to the base station over the QDCCH.

  • Publication number: 20070153724
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for enhancing the link performance of a multicast service for UEs in a wireless system. In the method, multicast data received in an Nth frame is recovered using systematic packets. When the recovery fails, parity packets are received in an (N+1)th frame and are used to recover the multicast data. When the recovery fails again, an autonomous handover is performed to receive parity packets from a neighboring cell or sector, which are used to recover and the multicast data.

  • Publication number: 20060068823
Abstract: A method of compressing uplink control information in a wireless communication system where an MSS scans neighbor BSs upon request from a serving BS and transmits neighbor BS information to the serving BS. In the method, the serving BS broadcasts a neighbor advertisement message including the BS ID of at least one neighbor BS about which the serving BS wants to acquire information, and the BS ID of the at least one neighbor BS. The MSS then scans a channel from the at least one neighbor BS and transmits a scanning result along with a BS index of the at least one neighbor BS to the serving BS.

  • Publication number: 20060039319
Abstract: A method of scheduling uplink resources in a wireless communication system supporting VoIP service is provided. A BS allocates an identical amount of the resource continuously until an uplink data rate is changed by an SS's request for a data rate change. When the data rate is changed, the SS reports this event to the BS so that the BS allocates an amount of resource corresponding to the requested data rate.
