  • Publication number: 20210300799
Abstract: An anode, a flow cell including the anode, and a method for electrocatalytic treatment of bio-oil and/or wastewater are disclosed. The anode comprises RuO2 particles on a titanium support. The method includes flowing a process stream through the flow cell in the absence of added hydrogen, at a temperature of 0° C. to 50° C. and atmospheric pressure, and applying a potential across the flow cell such that the anode is positive with respect to the cathode, thereby electrocatalytically oxidizing compounds in the process stream to produce a treated process stream at the anode and generating hydrogen gas as a byproduct at the cathode.

  • Patent number: 10408496
Abstract: The T&P relief valve includes a valve casing. A valve assembly is carried by the valve casing and includes a moveable valve shaft and associated valve head sealingly biased against a valve seat by a valve spring which is sealed within a protective chamber configured to contain a first protective fluid. The valve spring is protected, by the protective chamber and first protective fluid, from corrosion, calcification and/or mineral deposits which would affect the valve assembly. A thermal element assembly is carried by an internal tongue of the valve casing. A plunger casing, encasing the upper end of the elongated plunger body and sealing around the captive plunger, is configured to contain a second protective fluid to protect the upper end and captive plunger from corrosion, calcification and/or mineral deposits which could affect the thermal element.

  • Patent number: 7798526
Abstract: A steering column assembly for a vehicle includes an outer jacket, an inner shaft that is received in and rotatable relative to the outer jacket, and an energy absorbing bracket. The energy absorbing bracket includes a mounting portion rigid attached to the vehicle and a body portion extending from the mounting portion. The outer jacket is rigidly attached to the body portion and the body portion is deformable to absorb energy in response to movement of the outer jacket. A tab is connected to one of the body portion and the mounting portion and abuts the outer jacket for applying a resistive force against movement of the outer jacket. The tab releases the resistive force in response to a predetermined collapsing force to allow the outer jacket to move while the body portion of the energy absorbing bracket deforms to absorb energy from the outer jacket.

  • Patent number: 6578530
Abstract: Combustible vapors from flammable materials spilled near a gas water heater can enter the water heater's combustion chamber and cause a serious fire or explosion. This problem can be avoided by ensuring that all combustion air is supplied from at least some selected distance (preferably eighteen inches or more) above a floor on which the water heater is placed. One version of the invention provides a flanged tube that can be installed so that an upper, inlet, end of the tube is above the selected height and so that the lower, outlet, end of the tube is sealed over a pilot flame access doorway. Various materials, such as an aerosol sealant foam or a flexible tape, are used to seal all other air inlets to the water heater.

  • Patent number: 6123162
Abstract: A hand truck has a movable load platform that can be driven upwards and downwards by driving means associated with a readily detachable power unit. This allows an operator to place the hand truck on the ground adjacent a delivery truck, to raise the movable load platform so that it is level with the load bed of the delivery truck, to transfer a heavy package from the delivery truck to the hand truck, and then to lower the elevatable platform so that the loaded hand truck can be pushed across the ground. In addition, the detachable power unit provides a continuous track for urging the hand truck up or down stairs. The track preferably includes a plurality of step engaging members that are sized to firmly engage each tread of a set of stairs so the device is sure-footed.

  • Patent number: 5690061
Abstract: A hot water heater has an expansion tank below the water tank and aligned with the water tank, so both water tank and expansion tank occupy the same floor space. The expansion tank is connected to the water tank by a pipe, so expansion due to heating of the water is absorbed by the expansion tank. For gas fired heaters, the burner for heating water in the water tank is disposed above the expansion tank and below the water tank, so the burner is above the floor sufficiently to comply with gas safety regulations.
