  • Patent number: 10899149
Abstract: A device for arranging a print head in a certain position includes a main unit including a main frame providing a primary abutting part and a support part; a sub-unit including a sub-frame providing a secondary abutting part, a connecting member movable relative to the sub-frame between a first position and a second position, and an urging member for urging the connecting member from the second position towards the first position, and a print head connectable to the connecting member to form a sub-assembly with the sub-unit. The main unit is configured to accommodate a sub-assembly formed by the sub-unit and the print head in a preliminary position in which, with the connecting member in the first position, the print head contacts the support part, and the secondary abutting part is spaced apart from the primary abutting part.

  • Patent number: 10514128
Abstract: A drive gear assembly for a roll that is detachably supported in a machine body, the assembly comprising a drive gear mounted for a rotation about a stationary axis in the machine body, a driven gear mounted on an end portion of the roller, and a bearing formed in the machine body for supporting said end portion in an operative position in which the drive gear meshes with the driven gear, the assembly further comprising by a safety cover that is pivotally supported on the machine body to be movable between an active position in which it covers at least a part of the periphery of the driven gear, except a portion where the drive gear meshes with the driven gear, and an open position in which it permits an insertion of the end portion of the roll into the bearing, the cover being elastically biased into the open position and having an engagement surface arranged to be engaged by at least one of the roll and the driven gear for holding the cover in the active position as long as the roll is in the operative posi

  • Patent number: 10369821
Abstract: In a method for high speed printing of web-based media, a medium is pulled along a media transport path to a pulling transport mechanism. The orientation of the medium with respect to the media transport path is sensed and this orientation is compared to a reference orientation to detect an orientation error. If an orientation error is detected, one or more of the following steps is performed: adjusting a print job for an image to be printed on the web medium; adjusting the transport speed; emitting a communication signal; and stopping the pulling transport mechanism and the image forming unit. It is the insight of the inventor that productivity may be increased by allowing a “tight winding” printing system to start printing at relatively high speed and reduce this speed only when significantly large deviations in the orientation of the web are detected.

  • Publication number: 20170341437
Abstract: A printing system includes a transport path for transporting a web medium. The transport path includes a slack region wherein the web medium is slack or substantially tension-free. A take-up roller is positioned at a downstream end of the transport path for receiving and winding the web medium. A tensioning device is positioned along the transport path between the slack region and the take-up roller. The tensioning device includes a first surface arranged for exerting a friction force on the web medium moving over the first surface in a direction opposite to a transport direction of the transport path, such that the web medium is tensioned between the tensioning device and the take-up roller. Since the friction force tensions the web being wound onto the take-up roller, the wound media rolls are tightly wound when applying “loose winding.

  • Patent number: 9394130
Abstract: A method for accurately controlling a medium displacement in an inkjet printer is provided by accurately determining a relation between an actuation signal for a drive motor and a medium displacement. The method comprises the steps of establishing a set of calibration actuation signals each corresponding to a nominal calibration step and determining an achieved medium displacement step for each calibration actuation signal in the set. The set comprises at least one calibration actuation signal for actuating the drive motor to make one full revolution and at least one calibration actuation signal for actuating the drive motor to make a rotation larger than one full revolution, but smaller than two full revolutions. Both a cyclic deviation and a local deviation of the nominal displacement relation is determined based on a finite series of basis functions.
