Abstract: An autonomous vehicle indication system and method configured to provide an indication of a driving mode of an autonomous vehicle. The system comprises an autonomous vehicle, an autonomous vehicle indication application and an autonomous driving mode indicator light positioned on an exterior surface of the vehicle. The autonomous vehicle indication application includes a mode determination module an output module. The method comprises the steps of: providing an autonomous vehicle with an autonomous vehicle indication application installed on an on-board computer of the autonomous vehicle. Determining the mode of driving of the autonomous vehicle by the mode determination module and based on the output from the mode determination module, the output module turns on or turns off the autonomous driving mode indicator light.
