  • Patent number: 8265176
Abstract: It is characterized in that, maintaining the sampling frequency of the digital-analog converter of the transmitter and the analog-digital converter of the receiver, the bandwidth, the spectral position of the OFDM signal, the shape of the spectrum of the OFDM signal that is transmitted, the level of the spectrum of the OFDM signal that is transmitted, or any combination of the above, are selectively and independently varied for the transmission path and for the reception path, in order to permit the configuration of the spectrum of the OFDM signal in terms of bandwidth, position in frequency and power transmitted for being adapted to the regulations of different countries and to the channels found in the different sections of the electrical network. All these changes are carried out without affecting the analog components of the system, in other words, with the same physical implementation.

  • Publication number: 20100265992
Abstract: A system for performing adaptative multi-carrier code division multiple access (AMC-CDMA) is provided. The system determines a channel performance metric for each of a plurality of carriers and then determines at least one AMC-CDMA parameter for each of the carriers based on the channel performance metric. Modulator circuitry then modulates the signal on each carrier using the specified AMC-CDMA parameters for transmission over a wired connection.

  • Patent number: 7460553
Abstract: This process applies to a number of user kits (A, B, . . . X) and a head-end kit (1) communicating over the electricity network (2) using an upstream channel and a downstream channel. In essence, the process comprises accessing by multiple user kits (A, B, . . . X) in the upstream channel and the sending of multiple information frames by the head-end (1) in the downstream channel simultaneously applying OFDMA/TDMA/CDMA multiplexing and dynamically assigning each carrier so as to maximize transmission capacity in both the upstream and downstream channels. In turn, the process allows the adjustment of the quality of service according to the type of information and the user that requires the transmission and the dynamic allocation of bandwidth through constantly calculating the signal-to-noise ratio.

  • Patent number: 7433428
Abstract: This method reduces the variance of the estimation of the signal-to-noise rate in a multiuser digital communications system. These communications require a sending of a phase reference symbol prior to sending a information, where the estimation is made of the signal-to-noise rate in order to use a modulation with a maximum number of bits per symbol, maintaining a bit error probability in reception within certain given margins. The method minimizes and equalizes the variance of the samples obtained for the different values, even and odd of bits per carrier, which the system uses. The estimation is necessary for selecting the number of bits per carrier in order to be adapted to the channel and as back-up information in the event of using a receiver with diversity.

  • Publication number: 20040190638
Abstract: Where synchronization in time and frequency in the downstream channel has been previously carried out, and determined by the sending of synchronization sequences (3) in a communication between a head-end (1) and user equipment (2); the present invention is characterized because it corrects sampling frequency in the user equipments (2) by starting from the estimation carried out during frequency synchronization in the downstream channel, to synchronize the upstream channel in frequency, removing the need for the head-end to make corrections in reception in the upstream channel. The user equipment (2) estimates (9) the moment the OFDM symbols (7) should be sent to the head-end (1) so that these are received by it at previously fixed moments in time. Furthermore, this invention includes interrogation of the user equipment (2), which allows them to place requests for access to the upstream channel with the head-end then making the distribution between the requests received.

  • Publication number: 20040151108
Abstract: Applicable to two-way communication over the electricity network between a plurality of user equipments (2) and a head-end equipment (1); characterized in that the receptors in the equipment (1, 2) continually monitor communication quality by estimating signal to noise ratio (S/N) in the individual carriers in the upstream and downstream channels. The user equipments monitor the state of the network at each moment in time independent of whether or not the transmission is destination for them. Optimum transmission mode is chosen as a result of this monitoring by means of modifying, packet by packet, the number of bits per carrier, the redundancy introduced by a FEC generator (forward error correction/detection), the FEC code, and/or the transmission mode; so as to achieve optimum sharing of the network in time and frequency at all times and to maximize the transmission capacity of the various user equipments by the network.
