  • Publication number: 20210283936
Abstract: The present disclosure is drawn to imaging media. In one example, an imaging medium includes a substrate, a color layer on the substrate, and an opaque porous concealing layer over the color layer. The color layer includes a pattern of color regions, wherein individual color regions include multiple adjacently-applied colors. The opaque porous concealing layer has a coat weight from 2 gsm to 10 gsm. The opaque porous concealing layer includes transparent inorganic particles having a refractive index from 1.3 to 3, and void spaces between the transparent inorganic particles are occupied by air.

  • Patent number: 6565173
Abstract: A fast and economical thermal inkjet printer prints on elongate print media, such as on a strip of paper from a roll, by moving a fluid jet print cartridge a determined dimension longitudinally of the length dimension of the paper strip while printing. In order to print a document that is wider than the width the print cartridge can print in a single scan of the paper, the cartridge is dithered among selected lateral positions within the width of the paper strip, and successively is scanned lengthwise of the paper strip to print in each successive longitudinal printing “swath.” A capstan of the printer advances the paper strip in steps of unit dimension along the length of the paper strip, which unit dimension may be substantially equal to the determined dimension of print cartridge movement while printing, so that documents having a length greater than the determined dimension can be printed in successive parts each of a length equal to this unit dimension.

  • Patent number: 6543889
Abstract: A security document includes a secure message which is obscured by a frangible layer of opaque material. The frangible layer of opaque material may be removed using light abrasion. The security document is printed on an especially prepared print media, which may include a substrate of paper, light card stock, or plastic film, for example. The printing method may be carried out using a common inkjet printer, or a printer of another type may be used to print such a security document. Methods of performing the printing operation are explained, and especially configured printing apparatus for practicing the method is also disclosed. A covert printed security document, and method of making such a document is presented.

  • Patent number: 6439688
Abstract: A technique of forming a bar of a bar code on print media by a printing device having a plurality of colorants. Each one of the individual bars has a leading edge and a trailing edge that help to define a central region of the bar. The relative locations of the leading edge and trailing edge are determined and a first colorant, usually black, is deposited at the leading edge. A composite of the first colorant, and the other printhead colorants, are deposited in the central region while the first colorant is deposited at the trailing edge. A bar of a bar code produced by this technique has a clearly defined leading and trailing edge for bar code readers to measure while the central region of the bar includes a composite of colorants.

  • Patent number: 6267475
Abstract: A printer ink supply system that includes a docking station having a pair of separated keying members and another docking station having another pair of separated keying members, wherein the docking station and the other docking station can be arranged in a stacked relationship when one of the keying members on the docking station is interlocked with a keying member on the other docking station. The keying members are distributed on the top, bottom and side walls of both docking stations thereby enabling the two to be interlocked in top to bottom or side to side relationships. The docking stations are interchangeable and any number can be joined in vertical or horizontal relationships, or in combinations of vertical and horizontal relationships.
