  • Patent number: 7918415
Abstract: The invention relates to a convertible aircraft operating method. According to the invention, the aircraft comprises: a fuselage, standard fixed wings which are equipped with ailerons, a tail unit with flight-control surfaces, engines, a rotor with blades, a transmission which is placed between the engines and the rotor and which is equipped with rotor clutch and braking means, a landing gear, means for transition from helicopter mode to autogyro mode and vice versa, and means for direct or reverse transition from autogyro/helicopter mode to aeroplane mode. The lift for a range of low speeds is produced by means of the rotor, while the lift for a range of high speeds is produced by means of the wings. In addition, the lift for a range of intermediate speeds can be produced using the wings and the rotor in autogyro mode simultaneously, and take-off and landing can be performed in autogyro mode or in helicopter mode with the engines coupled to the rotor.

  • Patent number: 5791957
Abstract: A water sports device for a standing rider who can turn the device in any direction relative to the towing water craft while at the same time elevating the rider above the surface of the water. This device includes a round board with anchor points on the upper surface for foot bindings as well as a round bar extending downward from the center of the board on which round planning disks are mounted generally at the midpoint and lower end. The rider controls direction and elevation by shifting weight on the board and while the round upper board initially rides on the surface of the water with the planing disks submerged, as the rider increases speed and shifts weight backwards the middle planing disk comes to the surface and ultimately only the lower disk rides on the water. Ideally, towing speed is adjusted so that the riders' weight is comfortably supported with the middle planning disk on the surface of the water while the lower disk remains submerged and the board is elevated.

  • Patent number: 5686966
Abstract: Digital data to be communicated are provided with error correcting code. Between consecutive signals representing real, or valid data (pixels in TV transmission) there are interpolated "phantom" data signals so chosen as to maintain the encoded signal within the limited frequency spectrum available for communication. Upon reception, the valid data (pixels) are extracted from the sequence of valid and interpolated data (phantom pixels), thereby reconstituting the original valid data.

  • Patent number: 5254220
Abstract: A process for positioning rigid segments into a paper web being formed through a hybrid band and the resulting article of manufacture from this process. The positioning of the rigid segments with uniform predetermined separation between them and their uniform length provide a wavelength for the hybrid band with the consequent advantage for readily detecting its electromagnetic characteristics. The paper web is divided in continuous adjacent sheets that include each one matrix and surrounding margin areas. The web has one or more sheets across. The matrix includes a set of document areas therein that correspond to the resulting bank notes, or document areas, in the preferred application for this invention. Each resulting document area includes one or more rigid segments that is, or are, symmetrically positioned with respect to a longitudinal and central axis across said document areas.

  • Patent number: 5099224
Abstract: A method for detecting and identifying the magnetic characteristics of materials by generating an interrogating electromagnetic field in which two opposing receiver antenna assemblies are immersed. The material is housed substantially within one of the receiver antenna assemblies so that one end protrudes slightly inside the other receiver antenna assembly to minimize edge effect noise. The responding field is detected, sampled and converted to a digital signal that is compared against pre-stored values that correspond to particular signatures or patterns of the materials being identified. Through computational adjustments of the digital values or adjustments to the interrogating field, the resulting digital values are fitted to the waveform patterns, within preestablished variances.

  • Patent number: 4668999
Abstract: A time base video equalizer and/or corrector for video tape or disk machines including a precorrector and a postcorrector section. The device is driven by a master video source, corrected or not, and synchronization with a slave video machine is achieved for the operation of interfaced special effects video devices. The jitter and coherence imperfections of the master video signal are followed by the slave machine thereby equating or synchronizing their timing components.

  • Patent number: 4577229
Abstract: A device for mixing video and audio signals originated from at least one remote camera and one director camera including a main unit having a circuit for synchronizing the video signals of the remote and director cameras, and a circuit for combining these signals through the use of removable special effects cartridges or subassemblies that are pre-programmed for predetermined video switching patterns. The circuit for synchronizing the video signals separates the sync signals from the director and remote cameras, locks the vertical, horizontal and color subcarrier on the director camera from the remote camera. The device is connected through junction box to director camera and video tape recorder, and directly to remote camera.

  • Patent number: 4450480
Abstract: A synchronization interface device to be used in conjunction with equipment with its own internally generated synchronization signal to allow harmonization with other external video signals from other devices to facilitate the manipulation of these signals, including means for separating the odd field from the internal and external signals and gate means producing a unique output state when both signals are in synchronization and a different output inhibiting the passage of the internally generated horizontal drive to means for comparing it against the external horizontal component so that the output from this comparison is fed to voltage oscillator means which produces an output in the 14 MHz range that is fed back to the slave equipment (AVE). If the gate means do not produce the unique output, the device experiences a drift until it locks in synchronization.
