  • Publication number: 20210262128
Abstract: A knit component may include a knit-in tensile area, which may include an opening at least partially bounded by a first intersecting portion and a second intersecting portion. A course of tensile material that is integrally knitted with the first intersecting portion via a knit stitch may include a float extending from the first intersecting portion, across the opening, to the second intersecting portion. A knitting method may knit courses of the knit component on needle beds and then widen and/or narrow parts of the opening by transferring stitches of one of the courses of the knit component to different needles.

  • Publication number: 20210219661
Abstract: An upper for an article of footwear may include a first area and a second area. The first area may be located on at least one of a lateral and a medial side of the upper, where the first area includes a plurality of first knit courses, and at least a majority of the first knit courses are at least partially formed by a first yarn. The second area may be located adjacent to the first area, where the second area extends through at least one of a lateral side and a medial side of a throat area of the upper. The second area may include a plurality of second knit courses and at least a majority of the second knit courses are formed by a second yarn. The second yarn may have a tenacity of at least 5 g/D. The first yarn may have a tenacity of less than 5 g/D, in some embodiments.

  • Publication number: 20210108343
Abstract: In one aspect of the disclosure, a knitted component for use in an article of footwear may include a first layer with a multi-bed first area having a first surface and an opposite facing second surface. The knitted component may include a second layer with a second area overlapping the first area. The second area may have a first surface and an opposite facing second surface. The knitted component may include a plurality of interlayer knit stitches interlooping at least one yarn of the first layer with at least one yarn of the second layer at an interface between the second surfaces of the first and second areas. The interior surfaces of the first area and the second area may define at least part of a freely separable area between the first and second areas.

  • Publication number: 20200022456
Abstract: A knitted article having a first layer and a second layer is described. The first layer is formed from a first yarn having a first shrinkage rate and the second layer is formed by a second yarn having a second shrinkage rate. The shrinkage rate of the first yarn is greater than the shrinkage rate of the second yarn when subjected to heat. Upon heat exposure, the second layer forms a raised structure. The raised structures have a length that is generally perpendicular to the lateral-to-medial course-wise direction of the knitted article. Methods of forming raised structures are also disclosed.
