  • Publication number: 20200360118
Abstract: A scannable dental spatial orientation device can comprise a coupling feature operable to couple with a bite plate for supporting a physical dental record material. The scannable dental spatial orientation device can also comprise a body portion having first, second, and third planar faces oriented orthogonal to one another. In addition, the scannable dental spatial orientation device can comprise at least one joint configured for rotating the bite plate and the body portion relative to one another to align the first, second, and third planar faces parallel to a sagittal midline reference plane, a horizontal plane, and a frontal plane of a patient. A dental record optical scan system and a method for digitally recording a maxillary arch position are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20190290411
Abstract: The dental measurement device can include a vertical orientation rod to align with a sagittal midline reference plane a patient. The dental measurement device can also include a baseline orientation frame coupleable to the vertical orientation rod to align with one or more of an eye feature and an ear feature of the patient to define a horizontal reference plane of the patient. The dental measurement device can further include a bite plate configured to be held in a mouth of the patient. In addition, the dental measurement device can include a nose extension arm for coupling the bite plate to the vertical rod. A dental prosthetic manufacturing system for use with an articulator is disclosed that can utilize the dental measurement device to create a dental prosthetic. A reference tool for modeling a dental prosthetic is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7399182
Abstract: Methods and systems for establishing dental bite planes in relation to the relative vertical and horizontal planes of a patient's face and head. A U-shaped bite fork, which can be held by the patient's teeth or gums, may be attached to a connection system that attaches to adjustable orientation rods that may be aligned to the vertical and horizontal planes of the patient's face and head. Once the orientation rods are correctly adjusted, the orientation rods may be may be locked into place to preserve the orientation of the patient's bite plane relative to the facial reference planes.

A U-shaped bite fork, which can be held by the patient's teeth or gums, may be attached to a connection system that attaches to adjustable orientation rods that may be aligned to the vertical and horizontal planes of the patient's face and head. The generally perpendicular orientation rods may be used separately or locked together to form a combined unit. Once the orientation rods are correctly adjusted, the orientation rods may be may be locked into place to preserve the orientation of the patient's bite plane relative to the facial reference planes.
