Abstract: There is provided a lateral flow assay that can provide an indication of Gram negative (GN) or Gram positive (GP) infection (or both) within 30 minutes, and desirably in less than 15 minutes. The immediate result would signal the presence of Gram negative bacteria, Gram positive bacteria, both Gram negative and Gram positive bacteria, or no bacteria detected. The detection level would be above a specific bacterial concentration threshold that is clinically significant infection source (e.g. 10^3 cfu/ml) versus the presence of a colonizing bacteria that is not a part of the active infection.

Abstract: A dynamic inflatable pillow for toilet training children has a compartment wherein a gas-generating composition disposed. Once water enters the pillow compartment through water permeable sides, gas is generated and bubbles are released from at least one gas-release outlet. Dyes may be added to the gas-generating composition to create colored effluent. Functional dyes may be printed on the pillow surface(s), which may appear or, disappear when wetted.

Abstract: The invention concerns methods and kits for evaluating the semen quality. The invention also concerns compounds and compositions for preserving a sperm sample, especially during cryopreservation. The invention is based on a correlation between sperm phosphodiesterase (PDE) activity and sperm fertility and on the use of selective phosphodiesterase inhibitors, more particularly PDE10 inhibitors.
