  • Patent number: 8767277
Abstract: The optical density of a first primary color is determined using two test patches. The first patch is printed with only the first primary color and a second primary color. The second patch is printed using the first primary color and a second primary color. The optical density of both patches is measured. The optical density of the first primary color is determined using the measured optical density of the second primary color and the measured optical density of the first patch.

  • Publication number: 20130258359
Abstract: A method of calibrating a printer is disclosed. The printer prints a plurality of patches using know color values. At least two patches of each color are printed. The patches are measured to determine a measured color value for each patch. The measured color values are checked for validity. The printer is calibrated using only the valid measured color values.

  • Publication number: 20130201244
Abstract: Techniques related to color analysis are disclosed herein. In an example, substrate locations on a printed pattern are selected based on a set of measurements related to substrate-height. Further, color of the printed pattern is determined at the selected locations.

  • Patent number: 8485655
Abstract: An ink patch is printed on a swath of media, by an inkjet-printing mechanism of an inkjet-printing device. Printing the ink patch takes a first length of time. The ink patch printed on the swath is heated at a first temperature less than a second temperature specified for the first length of time the inkjet-printing mechanism takes to print the ink patch. A second length of time is waited. A total length of time the swath is heated is at least substantially equal to the first length of time plus the second length of time.

  • Patent number: 8363273
Abstract: Method of computing a convex hull in a predetermined color space, comprising determining a print attribute value range pertaining to a reference print attribute value, selecting base NP (Neugebauer Primary) area coverages, comprising area coverages of single NPs and combined NPs, having print attribute values in the print attribute value range, printing and measuring patches corresponding to the base NP area coverages, computing linear combinations of the base NP area coverages, and assigning one of the base NP area coverage or the linear combination of base NP area coverages to the corresponding color, depending on which is closest to the reference print attribute value.

  • Patent number: 7672028
Abstract: A printer is configured to print a color target that associates colors to which humans are most sensitive to color variance with areas of the color target within which color measurement is less prone to meassurement error. The printer then prints the color target according to the association. In an optional impemementation, measurements of like color elements within the target are average. In a further optional impementation, the averaging is performed using weighted values, wherein the weighting is based on color measurement accuracy within an area within the color target wherein each measured element is located. In a still further implementation, a color look-up table is generated according to measurements made of the color target.
