  • Patent number: 9284826
Abstract: Provided herein are embodiments for extracting oil from an oil-bearing formation. An embodiment of a method includes heating a first portion of the formation with radio frequency energy generated by a radio frequency generator electrically coupled to an antenna. The antenna is positioned within a wellbore and located within the first portion to heat the first portion to a minimum temperature of about 160° F. The radio frequency generator delivers power in a range from about 50 kilowatts to about 2 Megawatts, and a power per unit length of antenna is in a range from about 0.5 kW/m to 5 kW/m. The method includes extracting the oil from the first portion after heating to create void space for steam injection. The method also includes injecting steam into the first portion to heat a second portion of the formation adjacent to the first portion and extracting the oil from the second portion.

  • Publication number: 20070042343
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a novel forward mutation assay based on 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) resistance which utilizes a strain of Salmonella typhimurium derived from the Ames strain TA100. More specifically, the invention provides a high throughput alternative to the standard Ames mutation assay for the evaluation of the genotoxicity activity of compounds during an early stage of the drug development process. The invention also identifies the upp locus as a mutational target that is capable of detecting a diverse spectrum of mutagenic events and further describes a S. typhimurium tester strain, designated FU100 (his+, rfa, ?uvrB, pkM101, 5-fluorouridine resistant) for use in the assay of the invention.

  • Patent number: 5702038
Abstract: A stroller organizer bag for containing articles such as diapers, tissues and disposal bags has an elongated strap with each of the ends of the strap secured to the bag. The strap has two closure attachments, such as two pairs of snaps, to form a loop in each end of the strap for securing the strap to the stroller handle. The snaps can readily and easily be closed or snapped together around the horizontal bar to form the loops.

  • Patent number: 4416039
Abstract: Apparatus for manually perforating blood vessels preparatory to embalming. The apparatus preferably comprises a pair of handle members adapted to be squeezed together to close a jaw whereby to penetrate the artery or vein with an appropriate needle. In the preferred embodiment pivotal fork means are included to help manipulate the vein or artery to be perforated. The vein or artery may be properly aligned with a channel member formed in one of the jaws. Notch means are preferably formed in the fork to assist in alignment of the blood vessel to be punctured.
