  • Publication number: 20240033818
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method for operating a cooling chamber in a strand guide device and the strand guide device 10 as such. The strand guide device serves to deflect a freshly cast strand, typically made of metal, into the horizontal. During the deflection, the cast strand passes through a cooling chamber 1 inside the strand guide device 2, in which it is sprayed with a coolant 33, with the formation of steam 5. The steam forms at least a steam-air mixture 5? with sucked-in secondary air, which is sucked out of the cooling chamber by a suction device 20. In particular, in order to reduce the pollutant content of the sucked-in and sucked-off steam-air mixture 5? and its emission into the environment, the present invention provides for pollutants, primarily dust, located in the steam-air mixture 5? by a separator 6, 6? to deplete.

  • Patent number: 10610916
Abstract: A device for discharging exhaust air from the surroundings of a metal strip. The device has air quantity boosters with an opposing suction device on the other side of the conveying path in the blowing direction in order to suction and discharge the airflow generated by the air quantity boosters together with the exhaust air. In order to reduce costs for the operation of the device, a sensor device is provided in order to detect whether the metal strip is present or not and at which speed the metal strip is being moved. Additionally, a controller is provided in order to adjust the delivery rate of the air quantity boosters and the suction device depending on the measured speed.

  • Patent number: 10493395
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and to a method for separating condensable materials from an exhaust air stream. Known apparatuses of this type typically comprise a flow duct for the correspondingly contaminated exhaust air, wherein a first separator (114) and a second separator are connected in series in the flow duct (110). A fan is typically connected downstream of the two separators and operates as a suction fan in order to draw the exhaust air through said separators and to discharge the exhaust air to the environment after it has passed through both separators. In a rolling mill, order to observe predefined limit values for the proportion of condensable materials in exhaust air streams before such streams are discharged into the ambient air, the present invention provides for the exhaust air to be separated at the rolling mill itself, and, downstream, for the fan to be placed not at the outlet of the separators but upstream of the first separator.
