  • Publication number: 20140134420
Abstract: Disclosed are crosslinked copolymers comprising a copolymer with crosslinks between olefinically unsaturated positions in the backbone of one type of repeat unit and a second repeat unit that is a fluorovinylether functionalized aromatic repeat unit. The crosslinked copolymers are useful for imparting improved soil, water, and oil resistance to materials including fibers, fabrics, carpets, films, plaques, and shaped articles.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 15, 2012
    Publication date: May 15, 2014

  • Publication number: 20140135456
Abstract: Disclosed are articles made from crosslinked copolymers comprising crosslinks between olefinically unsaturated positions in the backbone of one type of repeat unit and a second repeat unit that is a fluorovinylether functionalized aromatic repeat unit. The articles have enhanced surface fluorine that imparts improved soil, water, and oil resistance to the articles.
    Type: Application

  • Publication number: 20140134388
Abstract: Disclosed are copolymers comprising a backbone with olefinic unsaturation and fluorovinylether functionalized aromatic repeat units, and methods to make the copolymers. The copolymers are useful for imparting improved soil, water, and oil resistance to materials including fibers, fabrics, carpets, films, plaques, and shaped articles. The copolymers can be crosslinked and used to form shaped articles with the improved properties.

  • Patent number: 8268395
Abstract: The invention is a process useful for providing a treated support comprising a porous nanoweb coating wherein the treated support is characterized by a biofilm cell count of less than 50% that of an untreated porous support control. The process is useful for modifying porous materials, such as filter media and barrier fabrics to provide resistance to biofouling. The porous nanoweb coating is comprised of fibrous structures derived from gelation and drying of supramolecular assemblies of non-covalently bonded organogelators. Typical organogelators useful in the invention include those that assemble via hydrogen bonding and ?-stacking.

  • Publication number: 20090047498
Abstract: One aspect of the invention is a method for making a composite material comprising a porous support and a porous nanoweb comprising: (a) providing a porous support; (b) providing a gelling mixture comprising one or more solvent(s) and one or more organogelator(s); (c) applying the gelling mixture to the porous support; (d) inducing said organogelator(s) to form a nanoweb gel; and (e) removing the solvent(s) from the nanoweb gel to provide a dry porous nanoweb coating on said porous support; wherein the one or more solvent(s) is a supercritical fluid. Preferably the supercritical fluid is carbon dioxide. Other embodiments of the invention include a nanoweb composite provided by the method.
