  • Patent number: 8166070
Abstract: A method, system and article of manufacture for managing access to query results and, more particularly, for managing access by multiple users to persistently stored query results, whereby at least some of the users may have different access rights. One embodiment provides a method of managing access to a query result obtained upon execution of a query against one or more databases. The method comprises creating security information configured for restricting access to the query result. The security information is associated with the query result. Access to some or all of the query result is granted to a requesting entity on the basis of the security information and an attribute of the requesting entity.

  • Patent number: 8010561
Abstract: A system and article of manufacture for managing access to query results and, more particularly, for managing access by multiple users to persistently stored query results, whereby at least some of the users may have different access rights. One embodiment provides a computer-readable storage medium for managing access to a query result obtained upon execution of a query against one or more databases. The computer-readable storage medium comprises creating security information configured for restricting access to the query result. The security information is associated with the query result. Access to some or all of the query result is granted to a requesting entity on the basis of the security information and an attribute of the requesting entity.

  • Patent number: 7761461
Abstract: A method, system and article of manufacture for relationship building based on text-based markup languages and, more particularly, for representing relationships between data elements defined according to a first physical representation of data in a logical representation. The logical representation abstractly describes a second physical representation of the data, which is generated from the first physical representation of the data. On the basis of the relationships between the data elements, logical relationships each defining a path between data structures of the second physical representation are determined and associated with the logical representation.

  • Patent number: 7558785
Abstract: A method, article of manufacture, and apparatus for processing continuous value data is disclosed. Data values stored in a database reflect a measurement of the value obtained for a specific point in time. In order to correlate the evaluation of two or more conditions, when measurements for each condition recorded at the same points in time are unavailable, embodiments of the invention provide a method for generating approximations of the unavailable values for comparison with others. Thereafter, a comparison between values for the points in time may be used to correlate the two conditions during query processing.

One embodiment provides a method of managing access to a query result obtained upon execution of a query against one or more databases. The method comprises creating security information configured for restricting access to the query result, wherein the query result comprises a dataset obtained from one or more database in response to execution of a query against the one or more databases. The security information is associated with the query result. Access to some or all of the query result is granted to a requesting entity on the basis of the security information and an attribute of the requesting entity.

  • Patent number: 7203677
Abstract: One embodiment of the invention provides method for processing a database query that includes an episode-based condition. The method includes determining the time periods associated with one or more duration episodes by analyzing a set of data reflecting values for the episode-based condition captured at various points in time. An episode definition may indicate the substantive data value associated with a duration based event, and the data values used to determine a beginning and ending date/time associated with each episode. Database queries that include the episode-based condition may be composed by specifying a desired value for the episode-based condition used in selecting query results.
