  • Patent number: 10055898
Abstract: Multi-video registration for video synthesis is described. In example implementations, at least one computing device synthesizes multiple videos to create merged images using an automated mechanism to register the multiple videos. The computing device obtains multiple videos with each video including a sequence of multiple frames. Using multiple camera poses determined in a three-dimensional scene reconstruction, respective frames of respective ones of the multiple videos are linked to produce linked frames. The computing device aligns the linked frames to produce aligned frames using point guidance that is based on the multiple spatial points identified in the 3D scene reconstruction. For example, pixels in each of the linked frames that correspond to a same spatial point of the three-dimensional scene reconstruction can be used to align the linked frames at a pixel level. Based on the aligned frames, the computing device creates at least one merged image to synthesize the multiple videos.

  • Patent number: 10032258
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and computer storage media directed towards automatic selection of regions for blur kernel estimation. In one embodiment, a process divides a blurred image into a regions. From these regions a first region and a second region can be selected based on a number of edge orientations within the selected regions. A first blur kernel can then be estimated based on the first region and a second blur kernel can be estimated for the second region. The first and second blur kernel can then be utilized to respectively deblur a first and second portion of the image to produce a deblurred image. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.

  • Publication number: 20180196173
Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a highly reflective multiband mirror that is reflective in the VIS-NIR-SWIR-MWIR-LWIR bands, the mirror being a complete thin film stack that consists of a plurality of layers on a selected substrate. In order from substrate to the final layer, the mirror consists of (a) substrate, (b) barrier layer, (c) first interface layer, (d) a reflective layer, (e) a second interface layer, (f) tuning layer(s) and (g) a protective layer. In some embodiments the tuning layer and the protective layer are combined into a single layer using a single coating material. The multiband mirror is more durable than existing mirrors on light weight metal substrates, for example 6061-Al, designed for similar applications. In each of the five layer types methods and materials are used to process each layer so as to achieve the desired layer characteristics, which aid to enhancing the durability performance of the stack.

  • Publication number: 20180121767
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for deblurring images. A neural network is trained where the training includes selecting a central training image from a sequence of blurred images. An earlier training image and a later training image are selected based on the earlier training image preceding the central training image in the sequence and the later training image following the central training image in the sequence and based on proximity of the images to the central training image in the sequence. A training output image is generated by the neural network from the central training image, the earlier training image, and the later training image. Similarity is evaluated between the training output image and a reference image. The neural network is modified based on the evaluated similarity. The trained neural network is used to generate a deblurred output image from a blurry input image.

  • Publication number: 20180024276
Abstract: Optical elements with coatings having low surface figure are described. The optical element includes coatings on two or more surfaces. At least one of the coatings includes a stress-compensating layer. In the absence of the stress-compensating layer, the coatings are mismatched in stress. The difference in stress increases surface figure and distorts the wavefront of optical signals that are reflected and/or transmitted through the optical element. The stress-compensating layer acts to reduce mismatch in stress and leads to coatings with reduced surface figure and reduced distortion of wavefronts.

  • Patent number: 9852498
Abstract: Techniques for removing artifacts, such as shadows, from document images are described. A shadow map is generated for a digital image by first determining local background colors using clusters of local pixel intensities. Then, a global reference background color is selected from all pixel intensities of the digital image. Next, a per-pixel scaling factor is determined that maps the local background colors to the global reference background color, which applies localized adjustment to the digital image to remove local shadow.
