Abstract: The invention relates to reaction products of glycols, diglycols, higher glycols or glycerol with ?-hydroxycarboxylic acids in a molar ratio of 1:2 or higher, especially conforming to the general formula (V) where R is hydrogen or a C1-3 alkyl group, preferably methyl, nx is from 1 to 5, preferably from 1 to 3, n is 1 or 2 and when n=1 the radical R? is C1-4 alkylene, preferably ethylene, x is defined as x? and y is not less than 1, preferably from 1 to 5, especially 1 or 2, and when n=2 the radical R? is a glycerol radical, x is defined as x? and y is =1. The invention further relates to the use of the (poly)hydroxycarboxylic acid (poly)glycol esters or (poly)hydroxycarboxylic acid glyceryl esters as acid donors and for controlling the pH in textile treatment processes.

Abstract: Aqueous dispersions (U) containing: (A) a UV-light-absorbing textile treatment agent, (B) a dispersant system and (C) a carboxyl-containing crosslinked copolymer, and optionally (D) at least one formulation additive, are useful for the corresponding UV-active finishing of textile material, in particular textile material which can be dyed with disperse dyes or optically brightened with disperse brighteners, especially for treating cheeses with liquors comprising disperse dyes and UV absorbers or liquors comprising disperse brighteners, without fear of troublesome pressure build-up or dye or brightener deposits.

Abstract: Aqueous dispersions (U) containing: (A) a UV-light-absorbing textile treatment agent and (B) a dispersant system containing (BX) a non-ionogenic, polymeric, hydrophilic dispersant or a mixture of such dispersants and (BY) a non-ionogenic or anionic, vinyl-polymeric, hydrophilic thickener or a mixture of such thickeners, and optionally at least one of the following further components: (BZ) at least one non-ionogenic or anionic surfactant other than (BX) (BW) at least one dispersing auxiliary other than (BY). (C) by-products and/or concomitants (D) at least one formulation additive and (E) at least one agent for setting the pH are particularly stable and are very useful for the UV-active finishing of textile material.

Abstract: New water-soluble polycondensation products are obtained by reaction of polyfunctional amines with cyanamide, its derivatives or polymers in the presence of sulfamic acid. They are excellent fixing agents which improve fastness properties of dyeings with substantive dyestuffs on cellulose fiber materials, paper, board and non-wovens.

Abstract: A process for shifting the equilibrium of disperse dyestuffs between an aqueous liquor and a textile substrate comprising adding to the aqueous liquor a compound of formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently, are hydrogen or C.sub.4-12 -alkyl, provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are not both hydrogen;R is a mixed chain containing from 7 to 31 ethyleneoxy and 3 to 27 propyleneoxy units,with the proviso that R contains at most a total of 34 units.
