  • Publication number: 20090304973
Abstract: A thermoplastic film for airbag covers contains a cover layer and a foam layer. The cover layer is made of at least two layers, having an outer layer and an inner layer, and an elongation at tear of the inner layer of the cover layer and of the foamed layer is considerably less than the elongation at tear of the outer layer of the cover layer.

  • Patent number: 7534318
Abstract: A textured, layered mold-formed body is produced with a foil laminate in which a top foil of at most partially crosslinked polymer materials and a sub-foil containing a polymer foam material with a density between 35 and 120 grams per liter and a gel content of less than 80 percent are laminated together. The foil laminate is embossed with a texture and treated with electron beams to give the texture enough stability for a subsequent deep-drawing step in which the mold-formed body is produced.

  • Patent number: 7034077
Abstract: The invention relates to a foil or molded body based on a transparent and high frequency weldable polymer mixture containing a) (I) a copolymer of ethylene with about 8 to 60% by weight of comonomers, selected from vinyl esters of saturated C2–C8 carboxylic acids saturated C1–C12 alkylacrylates and methacrylates, optionally with carbon monoxide as termonomer, and/or (II) ethylene homopolymer, ethylene copolymer, propylene homopolymer and/or propylene copolymer with about 8 to 60% by weight of grafted units of unsaturated carboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acids, their esters and/or anhydrides or (III) a mixture of two or more of the above mentioned compounds, independently of their allocation to groups, whereby the polymers or their mixture have a melt index MFI (190° C.; 2.16 kg) of about 0.2 to 15.0 g/10 min and b) a copolymer of ethylene with about 10 to 30% by weight of C3–C12–?-olefin with a melt index MFI (190° C., 2.16 kg) of about 0.2 to 15.

  • Patent number: 6663738
Abstract: A method for the preparation of a polyolefin foil by developing a foil from mass having a content of polyolefin and with subsequent treatment of the foil by an electron beams beam. The polyolefin foil prepare according to the invention specific method distinguishes itself vis-à-vis the state of the art by favorable price, concurrent with excellent ability of being laminated and embossed as well as having high grain stability.

  • Patent number: 6410638
Abstract: A light-stable, sinterable particulate thermoplastic molding composition is described. The thermoplastic compositions of the present invention consist essentially of: (i) a resinous blend of, (a) thermoplastic polyurethane, and (b) a member selected from at least one of a number of recited copolymers, e.g., a styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer; (ii) a UV stabilizer; and (iii) an antioxidant. The thermoplastic polyurethane (a) is prepared from an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diisocyanate. The molding compositions are suitable for the preparation of textured sintered films, e.g., by the powder-slush process, having improved tactile properties that, for example, may be used in the fabrication of vehicle interior trim components and vehicle air bags.

  • Patent number: 6162865
Abstract: High-frequency-weldable polymer mixture containing: a copolymer of ethylene with comonomers selected from vinyl esters of saturated C.sub.2 -C.sub.8 carboxylic acids, C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 -alkyl acrylates and -methacrylates, optionally with carbon monoxide as termonomer; and polyamide-containing thermoplastic polyolefin which, in turn, contains a polyamide, polyolefin and, optionally, compatibilizing agents. The polyolefins can be a propylene copolymer with polypropylene blocks and random copolymer blocks, or a mixture of polypropylene and random copolymers. The polymer mixture has good high-frequency weldability and good weld seam strength as well as thermal stability accompanied by a low temperature dependency of the dielectric loss factor.

  • Patent number: 5785254
Abstract: A fuel injection valve has downstream a valve seat (23), an injector plate (23), which is characterized by having a plurality of swirl-producing elements on the intake side, followed by at least one uninterrupted annular gap in the downstream direction. The swirl-producing elements are arranged in a turbine vane-shaped form by each individual element running mostly radially and being tilted in the peripheral direction and the elements being arranged behind one another in a circular shape. The annular gap (45) represents the spray geometry. With this arrangement the fuel can be finely atomized without additional power consumption. The breakup into minute droplets results in further reduction of the exhaust emissions of an internal combustion engine and in lower if fuel consumption. The fuel injection valve is especially well-suited for use in injection systems of mixture-compression externally ignited internal combustion engines.
