  • Publication number: 20210391965
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. For example, a first wireless device may transmit, via a first beam, a first set of data and a first reference signal associated with the data on a data channel for beam refinement. The first wireless device may further transmit, via a second beam, a second set of data and a second reference signal on the data channel for beam refinement. A second device may receive the first set of data and first reference signal in addition to receiving the second set of data and second reference signal. The second device may transmit, to the first device, beam refinement feedback information for the first beam and the second beam based on receiving the first reference signal and the second reference signal on the data channel. Thus, the first device may refine beams based on a data transmission over a data channel.

  • Patent number: 11191061
Abstract: When beamforming (e.g., via a millimeter wave system (mmW)) is used for wireless communication, a base station may transmit beams that are directed to certain directions. Due to the directional nature of the beams in the mmW system, an approach to determine a beam that provides a desirable gain is studied. The apparatus may be a user equipment (UE). The apparatus receives, from a base station, a plurality of signals through a plurality of beams of the base station, each of the plurality of beams corresponding to a respective antenna port of a plurality of antenna ports of the base station, where the plurality of signals include a plurality of beam reference signals, a plurality of beam refinement reference signals, a plurality of channel state information reference signals (CSI-RSs), or a combination thereof. • Patent number: 11172407
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for partitioning of time-frequency resources for types of traffic separately. A centralized scheduler in a centralized system or a set of access nodes (ANs) in a distributed system may allocate a portion of a set of resources for a first traffic type (e.g., control or data traffic). In some cases, multiple ANs may exchange reports or measurements to determine the resources to allocate to a given traffic type. The allocated resources may be repurposed for use by a different traffic type (e.g., data traffic resources may be repurposed an used for control traffic resources) in order to account for varying traffic conditions (e.g., unscheduled control traffic).

  • Publication number: 20210274382
Abstract: There may be a gap between the time a beam pair link (BPL) impacted by a beam failure (BF) event is deactivated and the time a replacement BPL is activated and becomes fully functional at a UE. The gap may be called a blackout period. A base station may not know the blackout period and may continue transmitting to the UE on the impacted BPL during the blackout period. This may result in a transmission failure. Disclosed herein are apparatus and methods for determining a blackout period associated with a beam failure (BF) event and communicating a blackout indication to a base station, the blackout indication including the blackout period.

  • Patent number: 11109333
Abstract: A UE may identify a first indication associated with a first signaling to be received in a time interval and identify a second indication associated with a second signaling to be received in the time interval. The UE may select to receive and receive, in the time interval, at least one of the first signaling or the second signaling based on at least one of the first or second indications. One or more of the first and second indications may be received from a BS or determined by the UE via predefined or other means. A BS may convey indications of the first and/or second signaling. The first and second indications may be transmitted sufficiently before the signaling in an effort to allow the UE to select and tune its receiver beam in the direction of the signaling to be received.

  • Patent number: 11101842
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide a repeater for beamforming a received signal at a first radio frequency via one or more scan angles or beamforming directions and then retransmitting and beamforming the transmitted signal at the first radio frequency via one or more scan angles or beamforming directions. Repeaters may perform heterodyning or downconverting on the received signal to reduce a frequency of the signal from the first frequency to an intermediate frequency (IF), and then band-pass filter the IF signal around a desired center frequency. The repeater may then heterodyne or upconvert the filtered IF signal back to the first frequency for the retransmission of the signal.
