  • Patent number: 7550686
Abstract: A rotary switch in a motor vehicle has a stationary central part, a rotatable outer part, a control part and a contact unit (16). The control part is coupled to the rotatable outer part so as to transfer a rotary movement of the outer part directly into the contact unit (16).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 2004
Date of Patent: June 23, 2009
Assignee: TRW Automotive Electronics & Components GmbH & Co., KG
Inventors: Juergen Girke, Klaus Mueller, Josef Ferstl
  • Patent number: 7394034
Abstract: An electric push-button switch (10) includes a housing (22), a push-button (12). The push-button switch (10) further includes a symbol lighting arrangement to illuminate a transparent region (16) of the push-button (12). The transparent region (16) symbolizes the functional unit to be operated by the push-button switch (10) or an actual function of the functional unit. The push-button switch (10) further includes a function lighting arrangement to indicate the operating status of the functional unit. The symbol lighting arrangement comprises a first light source (32), and the function lighting arrangement comprises a second light source (34) and an off-partitioned light conducting section to a light outlet area (18) which is integrated into the push-button (12). Both lighting arrangements are accommodated in a structural space defined by the housing (22).

  • Patent number: 6894242
Abstract: The rotary light switch for motor vehicles has a housing (10) and an actuating member (14) mounted rotatably. In a peripheral wall (24) of the housing, a cam surface (26) is recessed, which runs in peripheral direction and rises axially facing axially away from the actuating member. A cam follower (22) projects radially from the actuating member (14) and runs up on the cam surface on rotation of the actuating member, bearing only axially on the cam surface and forcing the actuating member (14) to move axially.

  • Patent number: 6803531
Abstract: The electrical turn/pull switch for vehicle lighting has an operating part (14) that is mounted in a switch housing (12) so as to be rotatable as well as axially movable. The movable contact elements (22, 24, 26) of a contact carrier (20) interact with fixed contact elements (30). The contact elements for the turn switch function (22) and for the axial switch function (24, 26) are integrated on the contact carrier (20). An actuation part (16) entrained by the operating part (14) has cams and/or ramps (18) that engage the movable contact elements (24, 26) and actuate them.

  • Patent number: 6680450
Abstract: An electric switch has a switch housing, a knob mounted in the housing, a guide gate having latching recesses and arranged inside the switch housing, and a spring-loaded cam follower guided by the guide gate. The switching positions of the switch are defined by interaction of the cam follower with the guide gate and with its latching recesses. The guide gate has damping elements made of elastic material and fitted in the latching recesses.

  • Patent number: 6396380
Abstract: A fuse box for motor vehicles includes a housing that is adapted to contain electrical fuses mounted to a common busbar for connecting one end of the fuses directly to a pole of an electric battery in the vehicle. The housing includes lateral surfaces for providing torsional protection to the fuses against twisting or bending when the nuts holding the fuses in place are tightened. Screening zones are defined in the housing for screening off fusable portions of the fuses so that melted material is prevented from migrating into the housing beyond the screening zone where the melted material may cause damage. Mechanical coding structures are provided in the housing to ensure that only cable terminals having a shape corresponding to the coding structures can be installed in selected regions of the fuse box. This prevents inadvertent misuse of cross-connection of cables having inadequate or excessive current carrying capacity.
