  • Publication number: 20100017539
Abstract: A method and devices for the exchange of data between a client network access system and a provider network access system. A message is sent from the provider network access system to the client network access system. The message triggers a response containing information about the client network access system, the response being sent from the client network access system to the provider network access system. The message uses a multicast address in a destination MAC address field, which functions in such a way that messages addressed thereto are not forwarded by the client network access system, and the information relates to an Ethernet OAM function. If the message is an inquiry, for example, as to whether the Ethernet OAM function is supported by the client network access system, the provider network access system can automatically be adapted to the configuration of the client network access system.

  • Patent number: 7020094
Abstract: A method and system for transmitting at least one client signal within a server signal which has a predetermined transmission bit rate, with the transmission bit rate of the client signal and the transmission bit rate of the server signal being different. To this end, at least one identification number, which indicates the transmission bit rate relationships, is determined for at least one client signal at the transmission end, and the data in the at least one client signal are inserted uniformly into the server signal via sigma-delta modulation and using the determined identification number. The server signal is transmitted with the determined identification number and, at the receiving end, the data in the at least one client signal is determined via sigma-delta modulation and using the transmitted identification number.

  • Patent number: 7013059
Abstract: Methods for protecting data signals which are being transmitted via optical conductors are disclosed. At least one operational optical conductor set that is connected at both ends to optical switching devices is provided for the purpose of bi-directional transmission of the data signals. A stand-by optical conductor set is also connected at both ends to the optical switching devices. In the event of interference on at least one optical conductor of the operational optical conductor set, such as a signal failure determined at the receiving end, there is a switchover at the receiving end from the respective operational optical conductor set to the stand-by optical conductor set. Consequently, there is a signal failure at the opposite end, and immediately thereupon there is also a similar switchover at the opposite end to the stand-by optical conductor set.

  • Patent number: 6842787
Abstract: A method and a device for converting virtually concatenated data streams into contiguously concatenated data streams, wherein the data is transmitted in containers and N containers are combined to form a multiframe, the virtually concatenated data streams consist of X partial data streams/channels, wherein containers which are allocated in each case to the same point in the multiframe are identified by evaluating a multi frame indicator of the container, the time shift of these identified containers of the partial data streams with respect to each other is measured, and in the event of a shift being present only leading containers are delayed so as to ensure that all containers are aligned with respect to time. Each channel (KA1, KA2, . . .

  • Patent number: 6839515
Abstract: A method for standby switching in optical transmission devices is provided, wherein, in addition to a working signal and a protection signal, respective control signals with information concerning the allocation state are transmitted and evaluated at the receiving end. The control signals are transmitted via a monitoring channel even when the useful signal is switched off.

  • Patent number: 6701086
Abstract: Given a measuring arrangement at the transmission side (MQ), quality criteria of the useful load signals (WS) are transmitted together with a timing mark to the measuring arrangement at the reception side (MS) at the end of a transmission path (OMS1) in a given time interval. The measuring arrangement at the reception side (MS) carries out the same measuring procedures1, compares both measured values (MEQ, MES) and sends the measuring result (ME) to a central location (ZS).

  • Patent number: 6375362
Abstract: In an optical plug-type connection between two optical conductors having an optical terminal which receives an optical plug-type member, an electrical connection is provided for verifying that the optical plug-type connection has been made and/or released. This verification reduces the likelihood of an optical plug-type connection being erroneously acquired in the network management system and, thus, significantly reduces problems in locating errors in the optical communication system.
