  • Patent number: 8155946
Abstract: A method is disclosed for searching for text passages in text documents. The method uses computerized prediction-based and ontology-based semantic language processing. Both the text passages that are to be located, as well as the text of the documents that are searched, are transformed on the basis of surface-syntactic and deep-syntactic information to generate a semantic network structure. The semantic network structure is linguistically processed based on information about other parts of the semantic network structure in order to improve the accuracy of the semantic network structure. Nodes in the semantic network structure are classified by linking the nodes in the semantic network structure to nodes in a pre-existing ontological network structure representing concepts in a language.

  • Patent number: 7243069
Abstract: A method for speech recognition can include generating a context-enhanced database from a system input. A voice-generated output can be generated from a speech signal by performing a speech recognition task to convert the speech signal into computer-processable segments. During the speech recognition task, the context-enhanced database can be accessed to improve the speech recognition rate. Accordingly, the speech signal can be interpreted with respect to words included within the context-enhanced database. Additionally, a user can edit or correct an output in order to generate the final voice-generated output which can be made available.

  • Patent number: 7024419
Abstract: A visualization system and method for visualization of network data, which is data that represents elements and links between elements. The network data is converted into a data structure, which represents a grid arrangement of the elements, where each element is placed on an individual grid position of a lattice. The data structure is suitable for use by a graphics display. The visualization tool comprises a processing unit that generates an initial data structure which represents an initial grid arrangement of the elements. It then assigns a global value to this initial grid arrangement and employs a gradient method for converting the initial grid arrangement into another grid arrangement which has a decreased or an increased global value.

  • Patent number: 6950814
Abstract: Scheme for enriching an input network with knowledge from a fractal semantic knowledge network. The input network comprises objects and pointers between these objects, and the knowledge network comprises semantic units, and a plurality of Jani, whereby any of these Jani is associated with one or more of the semantic units such that the respective Janus is able to operate on one or more of the semantic units. The following steps are carried out: finding a counterpart element for an object or a pointer by looking for a semantic unit that is related to the object or the pointer; establishing a classification connection between the object or the pointer and its counterpart element; assigning the module that is associated with the counterpart element, if any, to the object or the pointer; examining the objects' or the pointers' neighborhoods in the input network by comparing them with the counterpart elements' neighborhoods in knowledge network to verify the classification connection.

  • Patent number: 6944603
Abstract: A method, system, and a program storage device readable by machine, tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable by the machine to perform method steps for processing an input string to generate a fractal semantic network. The fractal semantic network is obtained by parsing the input string to generate an initial parse structure which comprises a plurality of parse elements. Semantic units are generated from some of the parse elements by employing a set of mapping rules for mapping certain types of parse elements into the semantic units such that some of the semantic units are information objects and some are connection objects. The fractal semantic network is generated by arranging the information objects and connection objects in a fractal manner, where the relation between the information objects is represented by the connection objects. The information objects and the connection objects are derived from a small set of basic building blocks.

  • Patent number: 6871199
Abstract: Scheme for the automated apprehension of textual information conveyed in an input string. The input string is segmented to generate segments and/or semantical units. The following steps are repeated for each segment in the input string until a subset for each segment in said input string is identified: a. identifying a matching semantical unit in a fractal hierarchical knowledge database of semantical units and pointers, said matching semantical units being deemed to be related to a segment of said input string, b. determining the fitness of said matching semantical unit by taking into consideration said semantical unit's associations, c. defining a subset of information related to said matching semantical unit within said fractal hierarchical knowledge database. Then these subsets are combined to form a resulting semantic network.

  • Patent number: 6792418
Abstract: Database system (10) which comprises a fractal hierarchical index database (13), and a processing unit (19). The processing unit (19) is employed to evaluate an input string (12) describing an element (E1) that is to be added to the database system (10) in order to obtain an input network (18) comprising a semantical unit (SU1) representing the element (E1). Then the processing unit (19) updates the index database (13). Finally, either an existing access pointer (22) is maintained, or a new access pointer (22) is created between the element (E1) and the semantical unit (SU1) representing the element (E1) thereby rendering the element (E1) in the database system (10) accessible or retrievable.
