Abstract: A laser spark plug, e.g., for an engine, includes a prechamber that accommodates an ignitable medium, an arrangement for radiating laser radiation onto an ignition point in the prechamber, at least one crossflow channel that enables a fluid connection between an internal space of the prechamber and an external space, and a screen arranged between the radiating arrangement and the prechamber with an outlet opening for entry of the laser radiation into the prechamber. The at least one crossflow channel is arranged to provide a fluid flow therethrough and into the prechamber, such that the direction of flow forms an angle of a maximum of approximately 30° with a longitudinal axis of the prechamber, and the flow is directed into a spatial region of the prechamber that is situated essentially predominantly, preferably completely, outside a central region of the outlet opening of the screen.
