    Abstract: A device for retaining flat, approximately rectangular appliances such as tablet computers or mobile telephones in the interior of a motor vehicle, has a fastening apparatus for fastening the device to a vehicle component, a retainer for accommodating the appliances, and a transfer assembly, which is provided between the retainer and the fastening apparatus and with which the retainer can be moved into different positions in relation to the vehicle component. The transfer assembly has a support element, which is arranged on the fastening apparatus and which has a first revolute joint having an axis of rotation oriented approximately vertically, and a pivot arm, which is arranged near the upper end of the support element and which has a second revolute joint having an axis of rotation oriented approximately horizontally. The pivot arm is connected to the retainer.
